Welcome to Saturday’s 13-game NHL Slate. There are a handful of elite options to choose from, like Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins, but we will need to dig deep to find value plays. There are a lot of games to choose from, so finding value is going to be key. You can build daily fantasy hockey lineups on DraftKings, FanDuel, and Yahoo Fantasy for Saturday, November 4th, but before you build those NHL daily fantasy lineups, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS projections, the NHL Value Finder, and the NHL DFS lineup generator. Let's now take a closer look at the daily fantasy hockey top plays for tonight's NHL DFS Showdown slate.

DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

It’s a massive 13-game slate with a ton of superstars to choose from. Picking the right one is always a challenge, but we need to still find value plays. We’ll need some exposure to Pittsburgh because of how bad the Sharks are, but can we also target value elsewhere? Can we trust Minnesota tonight? Can the Ottawa Senators get things going? Is a hot dog a sandwich? So many questions, so let’s dig right in.

Recommended DFS Starting Goalies

Top Options for Saves

Sam Montembeault Vs. St. Louis Blues

Ilya Sorokin  Vs. Carolina Hurricanes

Mackenzie Blackwood Vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

Best Odds for a Win

Tristan Jarry Vs. San Jose Sharks

Joseph Woll Vs. Buffalo Sabres

Anthony Stolarz Vs. Chicago Blackhawks

Favorite Goalies to Use for DFS Lineups

Tristan Jarry, G, Pittsburgh Penguins

Tristan Jarry isn’t having a great start to the season, but the San Jose Sharks are a joke of a franchise and this is the type of game that helps you build your confidence. If he can’t win tonight, then we never play him again a ban him from every NHL DFS lineup moving forward.

Cam Talbot, G, Los Angeles Kings

I am extremely high on the Los Angeles Kings tonight. The Flyers are off to a good start this season, but they are playing on back-to-back nights. LA is also undefeated on the road, sitting at a cool 5-0-0. They will lose at some point, but I really don’t think it’s going to be tonight.

Jacob Markstrom, G, Calgary Flames

Hello darkness my old friend! Jacob Markstrom is 1-6-1 and has some horrific supporting numbers, but Seattle is a middle-of-the-pack offence and I don’t see them lighting him up. Could I be terribly wrong here? Probably, but I’ll take my chances in a GPP and hope for the best.

Elvis Merzlikins, G, Columbus Blue Jackets

The only team scoring fewer goals than the San Jose Sharks are the *checks notes* Washington Capitals. Yeah, that’s not a typo. They are scoring 1.89 per game, but have a team total of 3.7 for this game? LMAO! I know it’s hard to trust Columbus, but the Capitals are a bad team and they aren’t going to score much, if at all. Merzlikins is $7200 on DK and can be our little secret.

Recommended DFS Skaters

Highest Expected Goal Totals

Pittsburgh Penguins  Vs Mackenzie Blackwood (4.1)

Florida Panthers Vs. Petr Mrazek (3.9)

Toronto Maple Leafs Vs. (Buffalo Goalie) (3.9)

Favorite Skaters to Use for DFS Lineups

Sidney Crosby, C, Pittsburgh Penguins

Sidney Crosby exploded for 11 shots on goal against the Anaheim Ducks and now has a matchup with the Sharks. I don’t think we see the same volume tonight, but he’s a no-brainer in a cash game lineup.

Auston Matthews, C, Toronto Maple Leafs

Auston Matthews finished with two points, five shots on goal and FIVE BLOCKED SHOTS in the last game against the Bruins. The Leafs have lost three in a row and get a fragile Buffalo team on the tail end of a back-to-back. I know $9800 on DK is a lot for him, but he’s got the potential to really explode here.

Kevin Fiala, W, Los Angeles Kings

Kevin Fiala only has one goal on the season but he has 11 assists. I’d like him to score more goals, but my mom would also like me to stop drinking energy drinks. The point is; that we can’t always get what we want. Anyways, Fiala is in a great spot tonight and I like his upside.

Chris Kreider, W, New York Rangers

We can’t ignore how bad Filip Gustavsson and the Minnesota Wild have been. He’s given up 27 goals on the year and sports a 4.48 GAA and a .882 SV%. Chris Kreider is already up to seven goals on the season, so this is a smash spot for him. I also think his $5700 price tag is more than affordable.

Kevin Shattenkirk, D, Boston Bruins

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Kevin Shattenkirk is getting some added responsibilities with Charlie McAvoy out of the lineup. He finished with three shots on goal and four blocked shots last game against Toronto and easily hit value without needing a point. His price tag did go up by $500, but $3800 is still an absolute steal.

Erik Karlsson, D, Pittsburgh Penguins

Erik Karlsson revenge game is going to be in full force. He played a whopping 30 minutes against Anaheim and scored his second goal of the season. It’s been a slow start for the veteran defenseman, but like every other Pittsburgh skater, he’s in such a good spot that we can’t just ignore him.
