DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

We have a wonderful eight-game slate to tackle. Personally, I love this size. There are a good amount of options to choose from, but not too many that it becomes overwhelming. We saw some REALLY high-scoring games yesterday, but I’m hoping we see just a little more defence for this slate. As always, picking the correct goalie is going to be key to winning any contest.

Recommended DFS Starting Goalies

Top Options for Saves

Ilya Sorokin vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

Elvis Merzlikins vs. Los Angeles Kings

Sergei Bobrovsky vs. Ottawa Senators

Best Odds for a Win

Sergei Bobrovsky vs. Ottawa Senators

Cam Talbot vs. Columbus Blue Jackets

Nico Daws vs. Washington Capitals

Favorite Goalies to Use for DFS Lineups

Sergei Bobrovsky, G, Florida Panthers

The Florida Panthers and Sergei Bobrovsky are in a great spot tonight. Ottawa loves to shoot the puck, but that doesn’t translate into more goals. Bobrovsky is 7-1-1 in his last nine starts and is in a good spot to pick up the win AND the save bonus.

Cam Talbot, G, Los Angeles Kings

The Los Angeles Kings and Cam Talbot have been a mess since their red-hot start to the year, but this is a game they can win. Columbus is a terrible hockey team and they are even worse on the road. The Kings need to get back to collecting wins and it can start tonight against a below-average team.

Laurent Brossoit, G, Winnipeg Jets

I know the Minnesota Wild scored TEN goals yesterday, but let’s not pretend like they are a powerhouse offensive team. They got lucky, and sometimes, teams just score at will. They still managed to give up seven and that is the real issue. Laurent Brossoit is confirmed to get the start and he is 5-1-0 on home ice with a 2.18 GAA. He’s been good this season and I like his chances of hitting value.

Nico Daws, G, New Jersey Devils

Nico Daws has won three of his last four games and is facing an offence ranked 30th in goals on the road. It’s crazy to think of the Capitals as a horrendous offence, but that’s exactly what they are. The Devils can provide Daws with more than enough goal support from him to pick up the win.

Alex Nedeljkovic, G, Pittsburgh Penguins

I don’t love the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight, but I do think Alex Nedeljkovic can provide us with some value. He is 5-2-1 on home ice with a 2.07 GAA and a .933 SV%. He’s been very good for Pittsburgh in limited minutes. Ilya Sorokin is going to start for New York and he has just been unable to stop the puck on the road. I don’t love Nedeljkovic’s $8100 DraftKings price tag, but I do see the value and so should you.

Recommended DFS Skaters

Highest Expected Goal Totals

Florida Panthers vs. Joonas Korpisalo (4.0)

New Jersey Devils vs. Charlie Lindgren (3.7)

Los Angeles Kings Vs. Elvis Merzlikins(4.1)

Favorite Skaters to Use for DFS Lineups

Nathan MacKinnon, C, Colorado Avalanche

I know this doesn’t seem like a great matchup for Nathan MacKinnon, but if you dig a little deeper, he’s really got an elite matchup. Vancouver is playing their second game in as many nights and just gave up TEN goals to Minnesota. MacKinnon is also averaging over two points per game at home this season. With that kind of production, his $10K salary feels like a slight discount. I know he’s expensive, but he’s worth every dollar.

Sam Bennett, C, Florida Panthers

I love the value Sam Bennett provides us tonight. He’s $5200 and is skating on the second line. He had four points against the Lightning last game, and while I’m not expecting a similar result tonight, I do think he can hit value.

Jack Hughes, W, New Jersey Devils

DK continues to have Jack Hughes on the wing so we will continue to exploit that. Hughes is elite when it comes to shooting the puck and he does that a ton on home ice. His $8700 price tag is up there, but he is almost a lock every game to finish with five or more shots on goal. I think he can definitely hit value against a below-average Capitals team.

Matthew Tkachuk, W, Florida Panthers

Matthew Tkachuk has 21 points in the last ten games and is just COOKING his opponents. He started the year off slow but he is now back to himself and racking up points. The Senators can’t defend and I don’t see them slowing down Matthew.

Noah Dobson, D, New York Islanders

I don’t think we are talking about just how elite Noah Dobson is. He is up to 51 assists this season and is just an animal when it comes to shots on goal and blocked shots. He’s a modern-day version of prime Roman Josi, yet he’s always underpriced. Even at $7K on DK, that’s just too low for a player with such a high floor. He is a great option in all formats.

Tomas Harley, D, Dallas Stars

Not enough people are talking about just how good Thomas Harley has been this season. He’s up to 14 goals this season and is capable of shooting the puck and blocking shots. He’s not on the same level as Dobson, but he is providing value and DK continues to have him priced around $5K. He should be higher than that. He’s a player who can hit value without having to register a point.
