Welcome to Wednesday’s 5-game NHL Slate. We have a smaller slate but still with a ton of great players to choose from, so we need to make sure we are making the correct choices. There are also some pretty good goalie matchups, so we can’t get that part wrong if we want to cash our GPPs.

Ilya Sorokin, G, New York Islanders

The Islanders have one of the biggest and chalkiest Money Lines on the board tonight so that means a win is likely and on top of that the Ducks offense is seriously lacking. They are scoring just 2.5 goals per game on the road this season, 5th lowest and while Sorokin isn't having his best season he is still a damn good option in net every night. 

Cam Talbot, G, Los Angeles Kings

Love to fade teams that just played last night and the Winnipeg Jets fall into that category today as they mustered just one goal against the lowly Sharks last night. Now it's the Kings who allow just 2.75 goals per game on home ice, top 7 in that stat and Cam Talbot is in the midst of one of his best NHL seasons as a starter with a 1.91 GAA. Seems like a simple plug-in to me. 

Sam Montembeault, G, Montreal Canadiens

Time for another edition of the catch the falling knife play of the day! I have no interest if Montembeault doesn't start and Jake Allen does but if projections are correct for tonight the Habs are in a decent spot. The Penguins are old and playing the second leg of a back-to-back tonight. They have also struggled to post high goal totals all season long so there's upside here even though Montreal are good size underdogs.

Favorite Skaters to Use for DFS Lineups

Nathan MacKinnon, C, Colorado Avalanche

39 points on the season and averaging 18.3 DFS points per game, it is as simple as that. The man is a stud and the Sabres allow the 7th most DFS points per game to centers this season, smash-spot tonight. 

Sidney Crosby, C, Pittsburgh Penguins

Crosby has cooled off a bit of late but his top line is still one of the very best in the NHL and the Habs are allergic to defense it seems allowing 3.63 goals per game on home ice this season. A couple of points is the expectation for tonight and with Crosby, he doesn't leave us hanging very often. 

Brad Marchand, W, Boston Bruins

This matchup of the Devils and Bruins could be sneaky good as the Devils push play into the offensive direction when they play. The total is just 6 due to the way Boston plays defense but I have a feeling this one could explode. Marchand is much cheaper than David Pastrnak too so worth a look tonight. 

Frank Vatrano, W, Anaheim Ducks

This is not a game I expect the Ducks to win but the Islanders aren't the defensive juggernaut they have been in seasons past and they allow a ton of shots on goal. Vatrano is a workhorse for the Ducks offense averaging close to 3.5 shots on goals per game this season. Great floor for what could be a slow game inside a smaller slate. 

Noah Dobson, D, New York Islanders

Would have never thought an Islanders defender would have so much success but Dobson has averaged 14.5 DFS points per game this season! He also has 6 points over his last 4 games and the Ducks allow the 3rd most DFS points to blueliners this season.
