Sunday’s four-game NHL slate is loaded with top-tier scorers. We should expect lots of tight games with some great matchups out there, but expect some of the top scorers to shine through still. So, be sure to check in with our NHL DFS Tools, with the daily NHL projections, and our NHL lineup generator when building those lineups today to help you decide which players you should be targeting!

NHL DFS Playbook April 23rd

DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

Every team is heading into game 4 of their series tonight, so by now, we have an idea of what to expect. The Oilers are down 2-1 in their series and are hoping to get things tied up before heading back home, while the Bruins and Hurricanes look to take a commanding 3-1 lead in each of their series. We are going to see some popular names in the Playbook, but if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Recommended DFS Starting Goalies

Top Options for Saves

Linus Ullmark vs Florida Panthers

Ilya Sorokin vs Carolina Hurricanes

Joonas Korpisalo vs Edmonton Oilers

Best Odds for a Win

Stuart Skinner vs Los Angeles Kings

Ilya Sorokin vs Carolina Hurricanes

Favorite Goalies to Use for DFS Lineups

Linus Ullmark, G, Boston Bruins

We are going with the same three goalies from Friday night. Linus Ullmark is an elite NHL goalie and the backbone of his team. He was strong in Boston’s 4-2 win and we should expect nothing less from him. This is a key game for the Bruins and he should be up to the task.

Filip Gustavsson, G, Minnesota Wild

If you think Marc-Andre Fleury is going to see another start in the playoffs, you might just be delusional. Filip Gustavsson was very good in his last start and has secured the starting job for the Wild. Dallas has a ton of good, offensive weapons, but he’s more than capable of stopping the puck. He didn’t face a ton of shots last game, so that does limit his upside, but I still think he’s worth the $7800 price tag

Ilya Sorokin, G, New York Islanders

We know how bad the Islanders are at scoring goals, but the Carolina Hurricanes are 15th in the playoffs in goals per game and they aren’t getting any better. Ilya Sorokin is an elite goalie on a bad offensive hockey team, so his upside will always be limited. That being said, he gives his team a chance to win every night and I like his chances in this one. We should expect a low-scoring affair that could end up being decided in overtime.

Recommended DFS Skaters

Highest Expected Goal Totals

Edmonton Oilers vs Joonas Korpisalo (3.7)

Boston Bruins vs Alex Lyon (3.4)

Minnesota Wild vs Jake Oettinger (3.1)

Los Angeles Kings vs Stuart Skinner (3.0)

Favorite Skaters to Use for DFS Lineups

Leon Draisaitl, C, Edmonton Oilers

Connor McDavid scored two goals last game and looked more like himself, but that only helps keep the Leon Draisaitl ownership low. Leon has been the better player in this series and I expect him to continue to dominate his matchup. The Oilers' power play is also operating at a ridiculous 50%, so I’ll want to have as much exposure as possible to that unit.

Pavel Zacha, C, Boston Bruins

Patrice Bergeron is confirmed to miss this game while David Krejci is listed as questionable. If he were to be out of the lineup, Pavel Zacha would still hold his spot on the second line, but move up to the top power play unit. I also have some love for Charlie Coyle, who is expected to center the top line, but Zacha getting the bump to the top unit is value I can’t pass up on. Honestly, I would have no issue stacking both centermen in the same lineup just to save some salary.

Viktor Arvisson, W, Los Angeles Kings

As good as the Edmonton Oilers are, they aren’t playing great defense. They’ve blown two-goal leads in this series multiple times and the Kings are a much better team on home ice because they can get the matchup that they want. If Kevin Fiala misses game four, Viktor Arvidsson becomes a player I really like. We know he can shoot the puck-- having totalled 12 in three games-- but he still hasn’t found the back of the net. He does has three assists, so he’s finding ways to get on the scoresheet. I think he’s $5800 price tag is too soft considering his production and upside. Even if you don’t go all out on LAK2, you can get a piece of them just by playing Arvidsson.

Evan Bouchard, D, Edmonton Oilers

Evan Bouchard’s price tag continues to climb, but he’s still under $5000 on DraftKings. Again, if we are going to get him at a discount, we might as well play him. He finished the last game with two assists and four shots on goal and is a key part of the Oilers’ top power play unit. I don’t know why anyone is still fading him at this point.
