NHL DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

Welcome to day 4 of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs! We will see every team that was in action on Tuesday night play tonight. There were some shocks in those Game 1s as every road team won and some in big time fashion. The zig-zag approach will be in full effect tonight as I expect the Avalanche, Golden Knights and Devils to all bounce back. Not sure how I feel about the Maple Leafs so I may wait and see but for those 3 home teams I will be stacking them up big time! You’ll probably want to pay up for a goalie that can stop the puck, even if they aren’t favorites to win. There are a ton of great options to target tonight, so let’s get right into it.

NHL DFS Top Starting Goalies

Top Options for Saves

Igor Shesterkin vs New Jersey Devils

Connor Hellebuyck vs Vegas Golden Knights

Andrei Vasilevksiy vs Toronto Maple Leafs

Best Odds for a Win

Alexandar Georgiev vs Seattle Kraken

Laurent Brossoit or Jonathan Quick vs Winnipeg Jets

Ilya Samsonov vs Tampa Bay Lightning

Favorite Goalies to Use for NHL DFS Lineups

Alexandar Georgiev, G, Vegas Golden Knights

Game 1 did not go well for the Avalanche and in turn it didn't go great for Georgiev. He had an okay game allowing 3 goals on 30 shots but we are used to better from him and the Avs this season. I full expect the whole team bounces back tonight after the shocking loss to the Kraken. He was one of the best goaltenders during the season, time to get back into form.

Igor Shesterkin, G, New York Rangers

The Rangers punched the Devils in the mouth in Game 1 and Shesterkin was up to his usual standards in the process. He made 27 saves and allowed just one goal and that goal was a penalty shot from Jack Hughes so I will give him a pass on that one. I think the Rangers may lose this game but Shesterkin will get up to 30 saves in the process and allow 2-3 goals at most.

Laurent Brossoit/Jonathan Quick, G, Vegas Golden Knights

Brossoit didn't look great in Game 1 allowing 4 goals on 30 shots for a SV& of .867. That just won't get the job done and that makes me think that maybe Quick gets the start tonight. Either way I know that Vegas will be keen to lock down defensively in this game as is their style of play. The Jets scoring 5 goals on the road was also an outlier to me and I think they come back to earth tonight.

NHL DFS Top Skaters

Highest Expected Goal Totals

Colorado Avalanche vs Philipp Grubauer

Toronto Maple Leafs vs Andrei Vasilevskiy

Vegas Golden Knights vs Connor Hellebuyck

New Jersey Devils vs Igor Shesterkin

Favorite Skaters to Use for NHL DFS Lineups

Nathan MacKinnon, C, Colorado Avalanche

Outside of Auston Matthews maybe, Nathan MacKinnon is the best player on the slate tonight and in a great spot against the Kraken. Seattle shut down the defending champs for a game but I doubt they can do it again especially on the road with an average goaltender. He had 1 assist in Game 1 but still put on 7 shots on goal so the floor is always safe but I see more of an upside game today from the highest priced center on the slate.

Timo Meier, W, New Jersey Devils

The Devils paid a hefty price to bring Meier over from San Jose and it was for moments just like this one tonight. It's a must win game as the Devils can't go down 2-0 heading to road so I think they throw a good blow tonight. Meier is an elite goal scorer and his price over the years has rarely been less than 8k but tonight it is. I think he nets a big one tonight in his signature Devils moment to this point.

Valeri Nichushkin, W, Colorado Avalanche

A lot of the focus will be on Mikko Rantanen tonight and that's well deserved but Nichushkin has a chance for a big game as well. He is third highest in odds to score a goal tonight behind his two teammates but he is on the powerplay unit with them so the points should come tonight. Colorado could lay a big number on the Kraken tonight as well so I want to be invested.

Adam Fox, D, New York Rangers

Played Fox in Game 1 and boy did we reap the rewards as he had 4 assists in a big time Rangers win. Obviously we can't expect the same level of production for tonight but he didn't move in price and is the do it all man for the Rangers who exposed the Devils so maybe they do it again.
