Welcome to another NHL DFS Playbook! We have a massive 10-game slate with some high scoring teams. There is no shortage of elite players to choose from, but we can’t pick them all. Let’s look at which ones we need to keep an eye on.

NHL Pick 'Em At Sleeper Today

Before we get into DFS, let’s make some pick’em picks for the night over on Sleeper There are lots of ways we try to fill your wallet over here at Fantasy Alarm and this is just another option.

Sleeper NHL Picks, Saturday, January 25th:

The Nashville Predators have not been a good team this season, but they have a very good matchup against Anaheim. Roman Josi has nine assists in the last ten games and is riding a seven game assist streak. This is a good spot for him to keep his streak alive.

The Ottawa Senators have been shutout three times in the last five games and are struggling to find offence. No one has struggled more than Brady Tkachuk, who has one point in the last ten games. He’s too good to be this bad, but the matchup on paper against Toronto isn’t ideal and he’s not getting any support from his team.

We know how dominant the Columbus Blue Jackets are on home ice. They are just so much better in their own barn, which is also true for Zach Werenski. The matchup against Los Angeles is a tough one, but his shot total being at 2.5 is criminal. He’s averaging close to four shots on goal per game at home, so this is just a no-brainer play.

SALARY CAP DFS

Goalie Of The Day: Pyotr Kochetkov - CAR

There are a few good elite goalie options on this slate but the best bang-for-your-buck is Pyotr Kochetkov. The New York Islanders can’t score goals and they are just as bad at defending. Tony DeAngelo is expected to play tonight and he isn’t going to be able to replace Noah Dobson, who was placed on IR recently. The Hurricanes are a very good team and got even better in the last 24-hours with the additions of Mikko Rantanen and Taylor Hall. Kotchetkov should be able to come away with the win and hit value.

Honorable Mention: Jakub Dobes - MTL

The Habs rookie goalie hasn’t lost a game in the NHL. His GAA and SV% are out of this world. Is he going to keep this pace up all year? Of course not, but there’s no reason to believe he can’t put together a strong performance tonight against a New Jersey team that hasn’t been scoring much of late. Jakub Dobes is a great GPP option and could be serviceable in cash games if you’re building more than one lineup.

Player Of The Day: Nikita Kucherov - TBL

The Detroit Red Wings have the 31st-ranked penalty kill and they welcome the Tampa Bay Lightning to town. Nikita Kucherov has 18 points in the last ten games and is probably going to add more to his total. He’s going to be a very popular play, making it hard to ignore him in cash games.

Honorable Mention: Sam Reinhart - FLA

The Florida Panthers are in San Jose tonight and they get to face Alexandar Georgiev. We can’t not have a piece of Florida tonight against one of the worst goalies in the league this season. Sam Reinhart is a goal-scoring machine and he’s going to get so many quality chances. You have to believe that one will find the back of the net.

Value Play Of The Day: Mason McTavish - ANA

As terrible as the Anaheim Ducks have been this season, Nashville is a dumpster fire on the road. Mason McTavish has three goals in the last two games and his shot volume has been elevated in the last five. The increase in shots will help keep his floor high, but he’s still only a single-bullet option in a GPP.

Honorable Mention: Bobby McMann - TOR

With Matthew Knies out of the lineup, Bobby McMann is expected to skate on the top line with Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner. McMann has played over 19 minutes in three of the last four games and now has a really good chance to rack up some points in the next few games. He’s in a great spot tonight and can be used in any format.

Stack Of The Day - CAR PP1 (Sebastian Aho - Seth Jarvis - Andrei Svechnikov)

It would be foolish for us to not take advantage of the worst penalty killing team in the NHL. Carolina has a middle-of-the-pack power play on home ice, but with Rantanen in the picture, it can only make them better. Since he isn’t in the player pool, we will need to target the rest of the man advantage. All three players above are great options. If you want to go all out, add Shayne Gostisbehere to the mix and let it roll.
