🔥 Montreal Canadiens vs Tampa Bay Lightning Prediction

I won’t sugarcoat it — I'm feeling stressed heading into this game. The Canadiens have shown they can compete with the Lightning, but when it comes to experience in a Game 7, the Lightning have a clear advantage. We witnessed a real goal battle in Game 6, and while our good friend Mark Lammey (who I’m not too fond of this round) has predicted that both teams will score more than five goals, I believe the outcome will be much closer.

For this game, let's focus on a player prop, specifically Alexandre Texier. The Canadiens' third line has been exceptional for most of this series, and they’ll need to perform just as well tonight. Most of the scoring during five-on-five play has come from the bottom six, which isn’t ideal, but here we are. Texier is the primary shooter on his line, and he likely won’t draw the same respect from Tampa’s top lines or defensive pairings. This match should unfold as a true chess match between John Cooper and Martin St. Louis. I expect Texier to finish the game with at least two shots on goal.

The second round of the Western Conference playoffs begins tonight, featuring a matchup between two high-scoring teams. There is an abundance of elite talent on the ice, but the question remains: will we witness a high-scoring event?

Both Scott Wedgewood and Jesper Wallstedt performed well in the first round, so there’s no reason to doubt their ability to maintain that level of play in this round. However, neither team has demonstrated the ability to effectively capitalize on power plays, which suggests it may not be a significant factor early on. Each team has six defensemen capable of playing in all situations, so we'll slightly lean towards betting on the Under for Game 1.
