🔥 Vegas Golden Knights vs. Carolina Hurricanes Prediction

Before we get into tonight's game let's recap the opening game of this series because it bears some attention. The final score of course was 5-4 and it was sloppy on all accounts and uncharacteristic of who these teams have been to get here.

I will start by saying the Golden Knights scored five even strength goals but they generating just 1.74 expected goals, that's insane! A lot of blame goes to goaltender Frederik Andersen there but the Canes defense as well. On the Carolina side they were better at 2.28 goals expected and Carter Hart didn't have his best game allowing four goals in the Vegas net. The best line for Carolina was easily the third line group of Jordan Staal, Nikolaj Ehlers and Jordan Martinook who account for three of the four Carolina goals. On the Vegas side it was Jack Eichel, Pavel Dorofeyev and Ivan Barbashev who generated the most expected goals. There you have it a recap of last game now let's apply that to tonight's action!

I am a full believer of the statistics at the end of every day. I have the gut feel as well but I do my best to follow the numbers. The numbers tell me the Hurricanes are the better team and especially on home ice. They generate more even strength chances on a nightly basis and their Corsi scores are through the roof this postseason. Andersen is the wild card and he laid an egg in game one. I will bet on the bounce back tonight and the fact that Rod Brind'Amor doesn't lose back to back games often in the playoffs. Give me the Hurricanes Money Line tonight and them to even the series. 

In addition to that wager I will add a prop in support of the Hurricanes. Knowing John Tortorella he saw how his team got burned but Carolina's third line a couple nights ago and he will be making adjustments. That could open things up for the second line group of Logan Stankoven, Taylor Hall and Jackson Blake. This line was Carolina's best through the opening three rounds leading to the Final so give me Stankoven anchoring that middle to record a point as he's done in 8 of 14 games this postseason.
