The Montreal Canadiens and New Jersey Devils are facing off for the second time in as many days. Montreal secured a 4-3 victory in a shootout, but honestly, it shouldn't have come to that. They were leading 3-0, but credit the Devils for not giving up. Everyone, including myself, was waiting to see Cole Caufield score his 50th goal of the season, but instead, he played the role of setup man, finishing with two assists. I'm going right back to Caufield for an anytime goal scorer bet, because you know his teammates are going to look to feed him. Jacob Markstrom is likely to get the start in goal, and he hasn't been very impressive lately.

🔥Carolina Hurricanes vs Ottawa Senators Prediction

The Carolina Hurricanes and Ottawa Senators are playing the final game of a back-to-back series, which means both teams will likely use their backup goalies. James Reimer and Frederik Andersen are considered below-average goaltenders who struggle with puck handling. While Ottawa has a strong defensive record, Carolina leads the league in shots on goal while playing on the road. This matchup should generate a good number of high-quality scoring chances for both teams, which we hope will lead to many goals.

🏅Goalie of the Day: Jacob Fowler - MTL

Today's goalie pool is quite disappointing. In my opinion, every available option is less than ideal, but we need to choose someone. Jacob Fowler returned to Montreal early to prepare for this game. The rookie has won three consecutive games and consistently gives his team a chance to win every night he’s in goal. The Devils aren’t a high-scoring team, but as I mentioned yesterday, they can still fire the puck. Hopefully, Fowler can limit the goals against him and secure the win.

🏅Honourable Mention: Igor Shesterkin - NYR

I do not have confidence in the New York Rangers at home; however, I believe Igor Shesterkin is a player worth considering. The Capitals have been scoring more goals recently, but their overall offensive performance this season has been below average. Shesterkin is a skilled goalie, though his team provides little support. I have more trust in him than in Charlie Lindgren. If Shesterkin can keep the game competitive, he may still provide value even if he doesn't secure a win.

🏅Skater of the Day: Martin Necas - COL

Let me start by saying that Nathan MacKinnon should always be considered when he's on the slate. However, given his current price tag, he needs to score a goal and achieve the shot bonus to provide value. While he is certainly capable of doing that, if he falls short, it could be problematic.

On the other hand, Martin Necas is nearly $2,000 cheaper and has accumulated 94 points this season. He can reach value with just two points and a couple of shots on goal, making him a more appealing value option. Ultimately, you can choose whichever player fits your strategy best.

🏅Honourable Mention: Jack Hughes - NJ

Jack Hughes has proven his skill, and in his last two games, he has amassed 7 points, taken 10 shots on goal, and recorded 4 blocked shots. As the best player on his team, he is expected to log significant playing time. Montreal continues to give up a considerable number of shots against, which increases Hughes' chances of scoring before the night ends.

🏅Value Play of the Day: Cole Hutson - CGY

Cole Hutson, like his brother Lane, is proving that he can compete at the highest level. He has accumulated four points in four games and has a strong ability to shoot the puck. Although his ice time is limited, which affects his potential, at $2,900, he doesn't need to do much to achieve value. I see him as an excellent bargain option in all formats.
