NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 4/12

 

Canucks & Ducks Prediction 

We are at the point in April where teams are completely out of the running and that is the Canucks as they play a road game tonight on the second leg of a back to back. That's bad for any team but especially one that's dead last in the NHL with a record of 15-21-3 on the road. The Ducks on the other hand finally got in the win column after losing 6 straight and I think they've got their groove back as they chase the Pacific Division standings. 

The Ducks are mega chalk to win, the most favored team on the slate and its not even close. This is due to multiple factors but the glaring one is that the Canucks have given up 3.7 even strength goals per game over their last 10 contests and that's the most in the NHL. The offense during that time by comparison scored just 1.4, they are getting crushed!

Anaheim while not perfect his posting more favorable numbers like 2.7 goals allowed 5 on 5 while gaining 2.73 goals expected per game on offense. Its also a matter of effort for me as mentioned above the Ducks need to win and the Canucks could not care less it seems. Give me the home team on the Puck Line to put together a blowout win that is much needed.

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks

Goalie of The Day - Jet Greaves - CBJ

Its a must win game for the Blue Jackets today and that's a good narrative to ride but the visiting Bruins have also stalled out on offense lately scoring 2.1 goals per game at even strength over the last 10 games. Bruins have also lost their last 5 games but have clinched a playoff spot so I wonder about their efforts today. Greaves has been very solid as well this season with a 2.6 GAA and a pair of shutouts so let's ride the narrative train today and pick the right goalie. 

Player of The Day: Leo Carlsson - ANA

Its a small slate but not short on star power in good matchups! The Ducks have the highest expected goal total tonight and Carlsson is the straw that stirs the drink for the offense. The Canucks allow the 2nd most DFS points to centers on the season and Carlsson has 2 goals in the last 3 games, I think he scores again tonight in a big win for the Ducks. 

Value Play of The Day: Drake Batherson - OTT

We do not know yet if Brady Tkachuk will play in this game but the Senators will be well provisioned if not with Batherson getting big minutes. The forward is having a breakout year with 32 goals and things could continue against a Devils team that allows the 7th most DFS points to left wingers on the season. At 5.1k he is too cheap to pass up for me and will be in all lineups.
