Edmonton Oilers vs Montreal Canadiens Prediction

The Montreal Canadiens and Edmonton Oilers are facing off at the tail end of a back-to-back schedule, marking their third game in four nights. There's a possibility of a goaltender matchup between Calvin Pickard and Samuel Montembeault. Pickard has been struggling, allowing over four goals per game, while Montembeault has a save percentage below .860%. Last night, Connor McDavid and his team scored six goals against Toronto, while Montreal managed four against the Rangers. Given the circumstances, this game is likely to feature plenty of scoring chances for both teams. It wouldn't be surprising if the total goals exceeded the Over/Under by the end of the second period.

Brandon Bussi should be the go-to guy for Carolina, and it seems the team is beginning to recognize that. He’s off to a historic start, boasting a 10-1-0 record and a 2.01 goals-against average (GAA). Although his save percentage (SV%) is somewhat low, the important thing is that he is winning games. Currently, he has won eight consecutive starts and is well-positioned to make it nine.

Honorable Mention: Joey Daccord - SEA

The Seattle Kraken have been alternating their goalies lately, so it's likely that Joey Daccord will get the start tonight. Although his overall statistics aren't impressive, it's worth noting that his team hasn't been supportive. It's challenging for him to win games with an offense that averages only 2.52 goals per game. On the bright side, the Buffalo Sabres have been struggling, winning only four road games all season. While two of those victories have come in their last two games, it's important to remember that they still have a poor record. We’re willing to take a chance on Daccord and are hoping for a low-scoring game.

Player of the Day: Connor McDavid & Leon Draisaitl - EDM

I know I can’t create an ideal lineup with both McDavid and Draisaitl, but choosing between the two will be challenging. I’ll present arguments for both players.

Draisaitl offers better value because he is less expensive, and his home/road performance is quite similar. Although he doesn’t take many shots, he has scored 12 points in the last five games.

On the other hand, McDavid has significant differences in his performance based on location. He averages over 20 fantasy points per game at home compared to just over 12 on the road. Despite this, he has accumulated 15 points in his last five games and maintains a high shot volume. Historically, McDavid has struggled against the Canadiens, but those past performances may not be relevant for tonight's game.

Ultimately, there is no wrong choice; it's about selecting the player who best complements your lineup.

Value Play of the Day: Vladimir Tarasenko - MIN

The Minnesota Wild have added a new player to their defensive lineup, which is expected to enhance their offense. Quinn Hughes is anticipated to join the team and lead the first power play unit. Meanwhile, Vladimir Tarasenko is skating on the top line and also on the first power play unit, averaging around 17 minutes of ice time per game. Although the veteran has totaled only 13 points this season, nine of those have come while playing at home.
