Welcome to the Fantasy Alarm NHL Playbook. This is your one-stop shop for everything DFS related for tonight’s 7-game slate. There are a few select games to choose from and many ways to make a winning lineup! We have some very good matchups to cover, so let’s get into the action.

NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 1/19

Minnesota Wild vs Toronto Maple Leafs Prediction

The Minnesota Wild are making their first and only trip of the season to Toronto to face the Maple Leafs. Both teams are dealing with injuries, sidelining some key players. However, this doesn't mean there won't be any goals scored. Filip Gustavsson has allowed three or more goals in each of his last three starts, while Joseph Woll has conceded nine goals in his last two games. Despite the injuries, there is still enough offensive talent on both teams to score. With the total set at 5.5, it seems like a good opportunity to bet on the Over.

 

 

 

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks

Goalie of the Day: Ilya Sorokin - NYI

I am puzzled as to why Ilya Sorokin isn’t the most expensive goalie on DraftKings tonight. His performance in 2026 has been fantastic, except for one game against Winnipeg. He made 35 saves in a 1-0 victory over Edmonton last week and now faces a Vancouver team that is coming off a 6-0 loss and is still in the process of selling off players. Additionally, they haven’t won a game since December 29th. The only downside to Sorokin is the shot volume he faces, but in cash games, our primary focus is securing the win.

Honourable Mention: Spencer Knight - CHI

Choosing Spencer Knight for tonight’s game isn’t for the faint of heart. He has lost his last two starts, but his overall performance still shows decent numbers. The Blackhawks are getting their best player back in the lineup, which will boost their offence. Meanwhile, the Jets, once a competitive team, are struggling this season. They struggle to score goals and don’t take enough shots on the road. I’m not saying the Blackhawks are guaranteed to win, but I believe Knight won’t be overwhelmed in this matchup.

Player of the Day: Artemi Panarin - NYR

After discovering that the New York Rangers would not be offering him a contract to re-sign, Artemi Panarin responded with an impressive performance, scoring two goals, recording five shots and two shots. The Rangers have decided to "retool" their roster, but I don't expect that to affect Panarin's performance. The Russian winger has accumulated 54 points this season, with 36 of those coming on the road. Meanwhile, the Ducks are struggling and continue to allow their opponents numerous scoring chances. If you’re looking to invest in a superstar, it all starts with The Bread Man.

Honourable Mention: Auston Matthews - TOR

Auston Matthews may not be scoring at the level we're accustomed to, but he remains highly effective when playing at home. Out of his 40 points, 25 have been achieved in front of the home crowd. With William Nylander already ruled out, Matthews is likely to increase his shot volume to five or more. He is in a favourable position to produce, but he needs to start scoring in order to meet expectations.

Value Play of the Day: Mikael Granlund - ANA

While the Rangers may perform better on the road, it's important to acknowledge that they are likely to concede goals. Spencer Martin is confirmed to start, and his performance this season has been subpar. However, it's worth noting that in his most recent start, he stopped 25 of 28 shots, but that was against the Flyers.

The Ducks’ defence has struggled, but their offence is still capable of creating opportunities. Leo Carlsson is out for a few weeks, which gives Mikael Granlund an opportunity to step up. Granlund played over 22 minutes in the last two games, both of which went into overtime. Despite the time on ice, he doesn’t need to do much to deliver value at his current price.
