For the NHL Bets, we are slowly gathering some data. It’s still a small sample size, so again, don’t blow your (bankroll) load in the first few weeks of action. We got a whole year together, so let’s get to work. You can get every expert pick, including mine, right here.

NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 11/09
Calgary Flames vs Minnesota Wild Prediction
The Minnesota Wild have a date with the Calgary Flames, which may not excite a lot of people, but that doesn’t mean we just forget about this game. The Wild have an elite power play--operating at 31%-- and a big reason for their success is Kirill Kaprizov. Of his 12 points at home, six of them have come on the man advantage. We know he’s going to get looks, and he has a good supporting cast with him. We’ll take a shot here on him to find the scoresheet on the power play.
- Kirill Kaprizov 1+ PPP (+150 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
Utah Mammoth vs Ottawa Senators Prediction
Both the Utah Mammoth and Ottawa Senators are playing the tail end of a back-to-back, so let’s strap in and get ready for an ugly defensive game. The Mammoth lost 6-2 to Montreal last night, while the Senators picked up an overtime win in Philadelphia. We know the Senators have below-average goaltending, but the Mammoth have been a mess recently. Both sides will most likely be rocking backup goalies, so if the script is correct, this game becomes a barnburner. We will go with the Over.
- Ottawa Senators- Utah Mammoth Over 6.5(+110 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks
Goalie of The Day: Filip Gustavsson - MIN
I hate having to play Filip Gustavsson tonight. He’s been #NotGood all season long, and now I have to pay up for him? In this economy? I want to fade him, but if he can’t put together a decent performance against the Calgary Flames and their 2.19 goals per game, then we can’t trust anything in life. I’ve got my bottle of bleach ready, but I’m hoping not to take a sip of it tonight.
Player of The Day: Nathan MacKinnon - COL
I know we dump on the Edmonton Oilers and their defence/goaltending, but honestly, the Oilers have done a good job of limiting chances. That didn’t show yesterday because Colorado scored 9 goals and made them look like an AHL team. Nathan MacKinnon had four points and is now up to 24 on the season. He has back-to-back games with six shots on goal, so sure, we can fade his $9400 price tag on DraftKings, or we can ride the hot hand and let “Nate Dogg” cook.
Value Play of The Day: Sam Steel - DAL
The Dallas Stars have balanced out their top two lines, and that has given Sam Steel a chance to secure a spot on the top line. He’s playing a ton of minutes with two very good players, one being Mikko Rantanen. Despite the promotion, DK has him priced at $2700. The Kraken are playing their second game in as many nights, and that means we could see Matt Murray, who is not very good at stopping pucks. If you need a cheap option with upside, Steel is a name to remember.
