Or maybe you were an MLB bettor and now that the season is over you want to try something new, whatever your preference welcome into betting hockey. Its been an up and down start to the NHL season for me trying to figure out the identity of these teams but the stats are coming in and the numbers are beginning to expose trends and edges to wager on. Tonight we have 12 games around the NHL and its the biggest slate we have had it a few nights! Tonight's best bets include some Money Lines, a game total and a player prop and I am fired up about! Good luck to all those tailing tonight and enjoy your Thursday hockey, see everyone right back here on Saturday for another huge slate!

NHL Best Bets for November 2

Los Angeles Kings at Ottawa Senators

Sometimes the hockey gods do the public a solid and gift a truly exciting matchup! The Kings have been one of the biggest surprises so far this season with the best offense in the NHL scoring 4.33 goals per game through 9 games. Surely that number will fall back to earth at some point but tonight in Ottawa I don't see it happening. The Senators allow 3.25 goals per game and have yet to sort out their goaltending situation fully but they will go with Joonas Korpisalo and his 3.21 GAA tonight. Their offense will more than contribute though as they score 4 goals per game and this young core of star players is just getting started. This game not hitting the over would be a mild shock to the NHL betting community but I fully believe it will and I am backing it as one of my favorite plays of tonight.

Pick: Kings & Senators Game Total Over 6.5 Goals (-135 on BetMGM)

New Jersey Devils at Minnesota Wild

I'll be honest I did not see this slow start to the season from the Wild and had them pegged as a Stanley Cup contender but through 9 games it seems they've forgotten how to play defense. The Wild rank 3rd highest in expected goals against right now and the goaltending tandem of Marc-Andre Fleury and Filip Gustvasson has not been getting the job done. Enter the Devils who are coming into town tonight and they've been an offensive juggernaut thus far with 4.13 goals scored per game, the 2nd highest in the NHL. That has pushed their record to 5-2-1 on the season and after several days of rest I think they come in flying against this Wild team and their bottom 6 Corsi For metrics. This is one of the better Money Line prices I have seen for the Devils all season too so let's jump on the value here and get a Devils win!

Pick: New Jersey Devils Money Line (-115 on PointsBet)

Montreal Canadiens at Arizona Coyotes

With slates this big its worth while to take some shots and tonight I am looking at the Canadiens as underdogs! Montreal hasn't been nearly as good as you might think this season as they sit at 5-2-2 but they have put on some impressive games and playing a Coyotes team that is back to back tonight they should have an edge. The Coyotes will surely start Connor Ingram tonight which is a downgrade from Karel Vejmelka and the Habs remain a team that can put the puck on net as reflected by their Corsi metrics at rank just outside the top half of the NHL. The Coyotes are also a young team that are prone to defensive lapses as evidenced in last night's loss to the Ducks. I think it'll be a tight game but the Habs carry value on the Money Line tonight and I am all about it!

Pick: Montreal Canadiens Money Line  (+110 on Caesars)

Vancouver Canucks at San Jose Sharks

One last pick to add here to the NHL Best Bets tonight as the Canucks travel down to California to take on the Sharks. This one is different than the rest though as its a player prop and the first one of this NHL season on the betting article. It is a great one to be first though as Quinn Hughes the defenseman for the Canucks has been on a roll this season and there's a big time angle to exploit. His prop line of 2.5 shots on goal has remained the same pretty much all season despite him going over the line in 8 of 9 games to open up the season. You would think with a hit rate like that the odds would be terrible but instead its around -150 on most books. The Sharks also allow the most shots on goal per game this NHL season with 38.22 so fire this one up tonight!

Pick: Quinn Hughes Over 2.5 Shots On Goal (-145 on BetMGM)
