NHL Injury Report: November 27th

Welcome to another edition of the Fantasy Hockey Injury Report. The injury report is going to keep you up to date on all the important injuries going on around the league, and how that might affect your fantasy hockey team. Make sure to check back regularly for any updates. Let’s take a look at some players that are either ruled out, or that we need to monitor.
Bryan Rust
After taking one warmup lap on Friday, Bryan Rust was declared out against the Islanders due to a lower-body injury. No one knew he was dealing with an injury, so this came as a shock to the fantasy hockey world. We don’t have any additional information, so we’ll have to wait and see if this is something short-term, or if we need to start looking on the waiver wire for his replacement.
Mark Giordano
Seattle captain Mark Giordano was held out of Friday’s game after entering the league’s COVID-19 protocol. The veteran defenceman isn’t the player he once was, but he continues to see a lot of ice time, and can be serviable when it comes to hits and blocked shots. The understanding is that he probably tested positive, so he’s likely to be out of the lineup for at least ten days.
David Perron
David Perron left Friday’s game against Chicago in the first period and did not return. The team is calling it an upper-body injury and that he is considered day-to-day. The veteran winger is having himself another fantastic season, so an extended period of time off the ice would be really bad for the Blues, and fantasy owners. There’s a good chance we get more information about his condition before the beginning of the week.
Ondrej Kase
Leafs forward Ondrej Kase was not at practice on Thursday and did not suit up on Friday against the San Jose Sharks. Kase is dealing with something, but we have no idea what it might be. The injury doesn’t seem serious, so it’s best to consider him day-to-day. When healthy, he should be playing on the Leafs top line, but that hasn’t happened on a consistent basis just yet. One can surely hope that we see that happen soon.
The Entire Islanders Team
Josh Bailey, Anthony Beauvillier and Anders Lee were on this list last week, and since then, more players have joined them. The Islanders are dealing with an outbreak, but the NHL has refused to help them out by rescheduling games. It was rumoured that they did ask the league to reschedule some of their most recent games, but that never happened, and it’s unlikely that it will happen in the future. This isn’t an ideal situation for anyone, so fantasy owners need to monitor this situation closely.
Anthony Duclair
Anthony Duclair took part in warmups on Friday, but was held out of the game due to a lower-body injury. Like Rust, this came as a surprise to the fantasy hockey world because he played just over 17-minutes against the Flyers on Wednesday. For now, it would be best to consider day-to-day and expect him to make a return to the lineup on Saturday against the Kraken.
