We cover the basics in our Weekly Waiver Wire Article. But Fantasy Alarm members are a different breed. Real sick individuals, like myself. We play in incredibly deep leagues and crazy formats, like the Scott Fish Bowl. We can’t help it. So we need to go DEEPER than just the basics. And that’s where the waiver wire streamers and stashes article comes in.

Here we get to the next layer of the waiver wire. We hit those “break glass in case of emergency” streamers for a desperate lineup decision. And we cover those deep sleeper stashes, to hold with only a hope and a prayer. As deep as you want to go, we will go.

Best Fantasy Football Streamers and Stashes For Week 6

What is a Streamer?

A streamer is a player that you can actually start in your lineup currently. They might not be the flashiest players, but they won’t get you a zero. In deeper leagues with a lot of starting spots, you may need to call on them from time to time - especially when bye weeks and injuries come around.

What is a Stash?

The stashes are players that have appealing upside for one reason or another but aren’t reliable guys you can start now. Maybe they are injured, and you can put them in an IR spot. Maybe they are handcuffs that could have big upside if the starter gets hurt. Maybe they are rookies that need time to develop and carve out a role. Whatever it is, we want to keep an eye on them. And stash them on deep benches.

NFL Week 6 Quarterback Streamers

Aaron Rodgers, Pittsburgh Steelers

Yahoo: 16% | ESPN: 5% | Sleeper: 9%

We typically shoot for guys rostered under 30% in this article (in the main article it’s 50%). That way, these streamers and stashes will realistically be there for you even in deep leagues if you need them. Rodgers is rostered in 27% of leagues on Yahoo, and he’s thrown three touchdown passes in three straight games, so he’s definitely an option in six-point passing leagues.

Jalon Daniels, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Yahoo: 4% | ESPN: 2% | Sleeper: 6%

We still prefer Deshaun Watson as our mobile option for four-point pass TD leagues as he has been running six times or more every week. But we wanted to give a shout here to Jalon Daniels, who has displayed his willingness to scramble along with designed runs in two games now. He ran eight times in his first start and now seven times in his second one. He’s yet to throw for more than 200 yards, though.

NFL Week 6 Quarterback Stashes

Deshaun Watson, Cleveland Browns

Yahoo: 9% | ESPN: 9% | Sleeper: 16%

Watson still remains the quarterback we like holding onto as our second QB. He has the weapons, he’s got the second-most rush attempts of any QB behind Josh Allen, and he’s been keeping his team in these games. A lot of the other QBs are more in danger of the starter coming back or of being benched than he is.

Malik Willis, Miami Dolphins

Yahoo: 23% | ESPN: 9% | Sleeper: 17%

Early on the season, the Dolphins were not calling designed run plays for Malik Willis. He was doing it all on scrambles. Over the last couple of weeks, perhaps because of the De’Von Achane injury, they have mixed in more designed runs on top of the scrambles, which has seen a noticeable uptick in the amount Willis is running. This offense is still pretty rough around the edges, but it’s a good start.

Superflex Special:

Cole Payton, Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles are having a brutal stretch, with the loss this week at the last minute hitting hard. They have a bunch of injuries; they are trading guys away. With Jalen Hurts popping up with a calf issue, we have to mention that they do have a super mobile rookie QB named Cole Payton on the depth chart. They released Andy Dalton, but they still might go with Tanner McKee if it comes to it. But we want to see Payton.

NFL Week 6 Running Back Streamers

Tyjae Spears, Tennessee Titans

Yahoo: 22% | ESPN: 33% | Sleeper: 28%

We mentioned him in the main article, but Tyjae Spears gets the pass work whenever the Titans are playing from behind. And, given the way the Titans have been playing this year, they are playing from behind most of the time.

Dameon Pierce, Philadelphia Eagles

Yahoo: 3% | ESPN: 18% | Sleeper: 2%

We talked about this in the main article, but it’s fairly simple. The top three running backs for the Eagles have been Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby, and Will Shipley, but they all could be out for Week 6. So Dameon Pierce ends up being the next man up.

Kendre Miller, New Orleans Saints

Yahoo: 7% | ESPN: 6% | Sleeper: 17%

Alvin Kamara has been going through it with Travis Etienne out. He briefly left the game in Week 4 with a knee issue. But when Etienne was listed on the injury report all last week, the main culprit was actually a back issue. With the ailments stacking up, Kamara only got five touches this week. Kendre Miller is the guy who is most likely to help him with that workload.

NFL Week 6 Running Back Stashes

Samaje Perine, Cincinnati Bengals

Yahoo: 3% | ESPN: 7% | Sleeper: 5%

This one has us conflicted. For many years now, we’ve had a very clear vision of what guys like Samaje Perine and Justice Hill are. They come in to play pass downs as specialists but don’t have much upside beyond that. But this week, Perine actually did play a much bigger role. Chase Brown hasn’t been particularly efficient, so Perine was used on some early downs on top of his pass-down. And this wasn’t just garbage time against a bad team; this started in the first half. Maybe Perine can be a streaming option in really deep leagues? The Bengals are on bye this week, so you’d be holding on to him to potentially stream later, making him kind of a tough play outside the deepest of leagues.

Nicholas Singleton, Tennessee Titans

Yahoo: 1% | ESPN: 0% | Sleeper: 6%

The rumor mills are swirling about a possible Tony Pollard trade. And there’s no way that happens without some level of faith in rookie Nick Singleton, as their only other option is Tyjae Spears. So just keep this name in mind as teams decide whether they are going to buy or sell before the NFL trade deadline.

Kaytron Allen, Miami Dolphins

Yahoo: 4% | ESPN: 9% | Sleeper: 18%

Ollie Gordon has managed to find paydirt in his first two starts. But the Dolphins don’t seem fully committed to that when you look at the snap counts, giving Carlos Washington and Jaylen Wright looks as well. The Dolphins had the worst record in football, which gave them the top claim on the waivers for released players. Who knows who else might have tried to claim Kaytron Allen. And maybe they actually intend to give the rookie a shot at some point.

Tyler Goodson, Dallas Cowboys

Yahoo: 0% | ESPN: 0% | Sleeper: 0%

Still one of the most underrated handcuff options out there. If something were to happen to Javonte Williams, Goodson would be the top claim in every single waiver wire article. In deep leagues, he might be worth holding onto in case that happens.

NFL Week 6 Wide Receiver Streamers

Tre Tucker, Las Vegas Raiders

Yahoo: 36% | ESPN: 32% | Sleeper: 46%

Malik Washington has been our go-to guy, but he’s on bye this week (and he’s been picked up in a lot of leagues). Tre Tucker is starting to get rostered in a lot of spots too, but he’s still probably your best bet.

Kendrick Bourne - Arizona Cardinals

Yahoo: 7% | ESPN: 5% | Sleeper: 13%

We always preach that we want our guy to be a top two target on his team. But there are only so many of those guys. And, as the Seahawks have shown us, sometimes being No. 2 isn’t a great spot either. Bourne is clearly number three after the Marvin Harrison trade, but the volume in general for this team with Jacoby Brissett has been good enough that Bourne is a decent spot start most weeks. He’s had a couple of games with eight targets, which is more than can be said about most waiver options.

Efton Chism, New England Patriots

Yahoo 0% | ESPN: 0% | Sleeper: 0%

We had Efton Chism in this article last week because he played a ton in Week 4 with A.J. Brown and Mack Hollins out. Brown could technically return this week, but I doubt that happens with a high ankle sprain. Chism rewarded us with five catches on six targets for 57, and he could be a deep league stream again this week if Brown is out (Hollins is now on IR).

  • Honorable Mentions: Brandin Cooks, Cody White

NFL Week 6 Wide Receiver Stashes

Tyreek Hill, Free Agent

Yahoo: 23% | ESPN: 29% | Sleeper: 55%

It’s really not looking pretty with the news on Tyreek Hill. But NFL teams are billion-dollar businesses and, as long as the league says guys are allowed to play, they don’t seem to have a problem letting them play for their team. So Tyreek Hill still has more upside than most guys out there.

Germie Bernard, Pittsburgh Steelers

Yahoo: 2% | ESPN: 3% | Sleeper: 6%

We mentioned this in the main article, but we often skew towards rookies whenever possible given that they have room to grow as the season progresses. With all the injuries to Steelers wide receivers, Bernard now has a big opportunity in front of him.

Ryan Flournoy, Dallas Cowboys

Yahoo: 8% | ESPN: 5% | Sleeper: 10%

Flournoy is interesting this year because he’s clearly ahead of Jake Ferguson in the pecking order. He’s gotten at least four targets every week and has even had games of six and eight targets. But the real value is in being a handcuff for BOTH CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. So you can start him in a pinch, but he’s a handcuff for two players - the rare “double handcuff plus”.

IR Spot Special:

Ja’Kobi Lane, Baltimore Ravens

Yahoo: 9% | ESPN: 9% | Sleeper: 27%

If you have the spot, might as well throw him in there. Rashod Bateman has recently fallen out of favor; the door is still open for Lane when he returns. It’s a broken wrist, which is easier to get back into the swing of things than a lower body soft tissue injury.

NFL Week 6 Tight End Streamers

Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers

Yahoo: 15% | ESPN: 20% | Sleeper: 18%

The Steelers are dealing with a rash of injuries to their wide receivers, including Michael Pittman, Roman Wilson, and Ben Skowronek. They also have a solid matchup with Tampa Bay this week. That opens things up for Pat Freiermuth to run more routes from a WR spot - he lined up as a wide receiver 27 times last week. The Buccaneers are allowing the 6th most points to the tight end, so Freiermuth is on the menu here for us.

Brenton Strange, Jacksonville Jaguars

Yahoo: 32% | ESPN: 27% | Sleeper: 47%

It’s not the best matchup. And Strange has his bye week the following week, so it’s really just a one-week play. But Strange has been hot lately and is quietly second on his team in targets, something we can’t realistically expect to continue for someone like Tyler Higbee. So we like Strange first, then Higbee and company next.

NFL Week 6 Tight End Stashes

Chig Okonkwo, Washington Commanders

Yahoo: 16% | ESPN: 3% | Sleeper: 11%

In his first game back from injury, Okonkwo wasn’t fully unleashed. But it was promising to see him essentially run more routes and be more involved than any tight end has been in his absence. We are throwing Chig back on benches to see what this role can grow to, especially with some of the wide receivers banged up over there.

Darren Waller, Carolina Panthers

Yahoo: 16% | ESPN: 2% | Sleeper: 6%

If it’s a pure stash, we still prefer Kenyon Sadiq. His profile gives him unmatched upside because of his athleticism. But Darren Waller is an athletic freak himself and, though he didn’t light up Detroit as we hoped, he still got six targets. And the week before that, he got eight targets. With his size, he’s a threat to score at any given time, and it’s a plus that he’s already had his bye.

Matt Hibner, Baltimore Ravens

Yahoo: 0% | ESPN: 0% | Sleeper: 0%

In super deep two-tight-end or tight-end premium leagues, we are still looking at Matt Hibner as probably the best handcuff (either him or Elijah Higgins in Arizona). The difference between Higgins and Hibner here is that Mark Andrews has actually looked pretty bad, so it’s not a crazy notion that Hibner could start eating into the workload for Andrews.
