Week 8 of the NFL DFS season takes a bit of a hit when it comes to top end talent thanks to the Chiefs and Chargers being on their bye week and the likes of the Bills, Buccaneers and Bengals playing on prime time. So, while this slate may be a bit watered down, featuring just 11 games, the show goes on. Let's take a look at some of the top plays, values and fades when it comes to the Week 8 NFL DFS QB position.

NFL DFS QB Top Plays
Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles
Fresh off a bye week and home against a Steelers defense that is certainly exploitable, especially by a talent like Hurts who can do as much damage with his legs as he does throwing the football. On a slate that truly lacks that “elite” upside QB, Hurts stands above the field this week.
Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins
When you get a matchup against the Detroit Lions you will see your name in the “top plays” section more often than not. The Lions defense ranks 31st in DVOA against the pass and will now have to deal with covering Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. I suspect that Tua ends up being the highest rostered QB this week given the matchup.
NFL DFS QB Mid Tier Plays
Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
Yes, I know that Prescott is priced above Tua Tagovailoa but he looked a little slow of the gate in his return performance against the Lions last week. We has a good matchup against the Bears this week and he should benefit from once again being at home. Because of his price point, and the Tua matchup, Dak could go overlooked this week.
Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings
I keep waiting for that monster week from Cousins where he throws for 300+ yards and multiple touchdowns but we just haven't really gotten that yet this year with this new offense. Sure, we've seen Justin Jefferson have huge games and Adam Thielen is as reliable as ever but there just hasn't been enough scoring from Cousins yet this season to really make him an appealing option. I feel like the sentiment here could be the same across the industry which would make Cousins a nice contrarian play. Maybe the bye week will help get this passing attack to click more consistently.
NFL DFS QB Value Plays
Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks
No disrespect to the 6-1 New York Giants but their pass defense does rank 26th in DVOA against the pass. I know the Seahawks passing offense took a hit with the DK Metcalf injury but they still have Tyler Lockett, two competent tight ends and last week Marquise Goodwin stepped up and scored two touchdowns. I think the hype around Smith has died down enough that he becomes yet another contrarian QB option for your lineups.
Marcus Mariota, Atlanta Falcons
How much more criticism can a team get before something has to change? The Falcons last week got blown out by the Bengals and the coach staff and offensive play callers got ripped to shreds for their lack of passing attack despite being down multiple scores. This week the Falcons are at home against a Panthers team that just pulled off an upset win over a reeling Buccaneers team but there still isn't a ton of talent on the defensive side of the football here. The Panthers rank 22nd in DVOA defense against the pass and Mariota's mobility gives him a nice fantasy floor.
NFL DFS QB Fades
Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders
It's great that the Raiders offense acquired Davante Adams and he and Derek Carr have solid chemistry with one another but this Raiders offense is also committing pretty heavily to the running game of late with Josh Jacobs rushing for over 140 yards now in three straight weeks. Carr has given us less than 15 FP in two of the last three weeks and this doesn't seem like a matchup where he can reach his ceiling as he faces the Saints.
