Saints vs. Rams Predictions, Picks & Odds: NFL Week 9, 11/2
The Saints and Rams are traveling in two very different directions here. The Rams are coming out of the bye week, off back-to-back wins, vying for the division lead with the Seahawks and 49ers. With a top-ranked defense and some of the league’s most potent weapons, their sights are set even higher than just the division as legitimate Super Bowl contenders.
The Saints, on the other hand, are hoping not to finish dead last in the entire league. Their 1-7 record has them tied for that distinction currently with the Jets and Titans. That’s why they’ve made the bold decision to start rookie quarterback Tyler Shough for the first time this week.Â
All that has the Rams as heavy favorites today. So it’s our job to dig through the narratives like that, the injuries, and the data to to make some predictions for this afternoon - and figure out if there are any bets worth making!

Saints vs. Rams Predictions For Sunday 4:05 PM ET, NFL Week 8
For those unaware, there is a formula to the NFL schedule. Each season, you play on AFC and one NFC division, but you also play the teams within your conference that finished with the same divisional ranking as you. So, if you finished third in NFC South, you face the teams that finished third in the NFC West, East, and North the next year.
This season, the NFC South and West play each other. But, in 2022 and 2023, the Saints and Rams each finished in the same spot. That’s seen an unusual situation where these teams will now be playing for the fourth season in a row. The Rams have won the last two, but the Saints won back in 2022. So they are fairly familiar with each other.Â
The Saints are now sitting at 1-7, having lost their last three straight games. Hence the quarterback change. The Rams are 5-2 and they won their last two games before the bye week last week. So, the Rams and Saints are probably not going to finish with the same ranking within their division this year.Â
New Orleans Saints: The Tyler Shough Era
Nothing brings hope like a quarterback change. Sure, the team is virtually eliminated from the playoffs already, so hope for this year is kind of dashed. But look at the New York Giants and the injection of life Jaxson Dart brought to the team. Tyler Shough is 26 years old after spending a whopping seven years in college, so he may be more game-ready than some of the younger, less polished prospects.
Rumors are swirling regarding the Saints as a deadline trade partner. Especially regarding offensive weapons like Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, and Alvin Kamara. As of now, there are no reports of anyone definitively on the move or being held out this week, so we are going to assume they are all playing.
On defense, the Saints have actually been pretty good against the run. How Demario Davis still does what he does 14 years in is beyond me. Against the pass, they have struggled a bit however where they currently, ranking bottom-seven in DVOA per FTN Fantasy.Â
Los Angeles Rams: Puka Nacua Returns
Matthew Stafford proved back in 2022 that he can win basically just throwing to one player. He and Cooper Kupp took the league by storm and won the Super Bowl that way. So it’s no surprise they could win before the bye with three touchdowns from Davante Adams. But, now that Puka Nacua is back, they are even more dangerous.
Defense is where the Rams may be a bit disrespected so far this year. They aren’t touted as this special defense, but they’ve actually been great in 2025. Pro Football Focus has them ranked as the fourth-best defense in DVOA, while over at FTN Fantasy, they have them as the second-best. It’s time to start considering them as one of the premier defenses in the league, as well as having a great offense. They are allowing the third-fewest points of any team so far.Â

Saints vs. Rams: Davante Adams Any TD (-110 at BetMGM Sportsbook)
Sean McVay is one of the more refreshing coaches for analysts. Why? Because he’s willing to be predictable to a certain degree if predictable works. His best guys against your best guys. It’s why he often runs once of the most highly consolidated offenses in terms of snaps and targets. Look at how much Kyren Williams has played over the last two years compared to other running backs, for instance.
This year, McVay has found something that works. In fact, he knew it would work the moment he brought Davante Adams to the team and showed everyone highlights of him making contested catches. Davante Adams brought an element to this team in the red area that they simply didn’t have with Cooper Kupp or even Puka Nacua.
Kyren Williams or Puka Nacua aren’t bad anytime TD bets this week either, but their odds are juiced. And we honestly feel Adams is just as good of a bet as them if not better to score. Adams actually leads all wide receivers in both redzone targets (24) and endzone targets (13). That’s basically two endzone shots a game for him. And, as we mentioned, the Saints are a bottom-seven or so team against the pass. With Adams playing the way he is, the Rams can ease Puka Nacua back in if they choose.Â
