As the old saying goes, “Good teams win, great teams cover.” We are back for week 4 with our picks against the spread! Looking at this slate, I love some of the spreads that Vegas is providing us this week. Surely, no crazy upsets or injuries will ruin my confidence, right?

NFL Week Two Picks Against The Spread + NFL Week 4 Schedule Predictions

For the NFL Week 4 Schedule, we have all 32 teams playing in 16 games, including both an international game AND a Monday Night doubleheader. In the following section, you will find my predictions, with my NFL Week 4 Picks Against The Spread highlighted in bold. All lines are courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook:

 

 

 

NFL Week 4 Picks Against The Spread: New Orleans Saints +15.5 (-110 at BetMGM Sportsbook)

This spread opened at 16.5 for most books and as high as 17. That isn't the opening line for a blowout; that's the opening spread for a funeral. While I obviously understand that these teams are on completely different levels right now, this could realistically be the best team in the NFL vs. the worst team in the NFL, I still think that +15.5 is too much this early in the season. Just last week, we saw the Bills fail to cover a -12.5 opening spread that shifted to -10.5 by game time against the Miami Dolphins. 

This Saints team might be bad, but it still has some fight in it. Last week should not be a good barometer for what the Saints will have for Buffalo on Sunday. A blocked punt, a punt return for a touchdown, and plenty of penalties early made that game become out of reach far too soon. Two weeks ago, Rattler had a 3 passing touchdown game against a tough 49ers team, leading to a game that came down to the wire. THAT is the Saints team I am expecting against the Bills on Sunday. Will the Bills win? Almost definitely, yes. Will they win by two scores? Probably, yes. Three, though? Just a little bit too much for me.

 

 

 

NFL Week 4 Picks Against The Spread: Los Angeles Chargers -6 (-110 at DraftKings Sportsbook)

The New York Giants already pulled the trigger and benched Russell Wilson. While I personally would've waited one more week so Jaxson Dart would get his first start against the 0-3 Saints instead of the 3-0 Chargers, to each their own. Unfortunately for the rookie, though, he will be playing against a Jesse Minter-led defense that hasn't let up more than 21 points to their three opponents thus far, even without Khalil Mack. As the Giants prep for this game, Malik Nabers hasn't been practicing due to injury, causing even more concern for this matchup. 

Meanwhile, on the other side of the ball, while I do love this Giants defensive unit, they are going up against who some consider the MVP frontrunner through three weeks in Justin Herbert. 

I think this was a tough pull for Dart's first start, and while I like the rookie, he is bound to have plenty of “Welcome to the NFL” moments in this one. I think this should be a comfortable win and cover by the Chargers.
