NFL Week 10 Picks Straight Up: Pittsburgh Steelers ML (+130 at DraftKings Sportsbook)
I do love this Los Angeles Chargers team, I really do. I just love this Los Angeles Chargers team a lot less without Joe Alt. And I love the team even less when they are without Joe Alt going up against a defense that just dismantled what looked like an unstoppable Colts team, forcing six turnovers on the day. The Chargers have lost three games this season. Joe Alt only played in one of twelve quarters across those three losses (when he got injured in the first quarter against the New York Giants). Coincidence? I think not. The Chargers made a move to try to replace Alt by trading for Trevor Penning from the New Orleans Saints, but he was widely considered a first-round bust on one of the worst teams in the league. I think this offensive line for the Chargers is in serious trouble going up against a hungry Steelers defense.
I know the Pittsburgh Steelers have been inconsistent, but they also play a brand of bully ball, consisting of the most 13-personell in the NFL by a wide margin, that I don't think the Chargers will be able to defend. In all three of the Chargers' losses, they were outgained on the ground, giving up a minimum of 120 yards rushing and over 160 yards rushing in two out of three losses. Jaylen Warren is starting to get hot, and the Pittsburgh front is physical, so I like getting the Steelers as underdogs in what I think will be a low-scoring, physical game.
NFL Week 10 Picks Straight Up: Philadelphia Eagles ML (+116 at FanDuel Sportsbook)
Yes, I am doubling down on my home state of Pennsylvania. Can somebody say “Go Birds?” The Eagles were active during the trade deadline, filling holes both on the defensive line and in the secondary. Jaelan Phillips is one of the most disruptive pass rushers when healthy, Michael Carter II was viewed as a top nickel corner in the league prior to the Jets' disastrous season this year, and Jaire Alexander can provide much-needed depth (and have a revenge game against his old team, Green Bay). The Eagles were able to make these additions off back-to-back wins, where their team already looked more complete than it did to start the 2025 season. Add that to the fact that they have won four of their last five games against the Packers, and this feels like a sure bet. However, there is more to it than just that.
Since last season, Jordan Love's numbers have looked significantly better when utilizing tight end Tucker Kraft beyond just a check-down option. Getting the tight end to challenge the defense in intermediate and deep routes has allowed the Packers offense to look lethal at times, which has allowed Kraft to play like a top-three tight end thus far into the 2025 season. The one issue now, though, is that Kraft is done for the season with a knee injury. Yikes. The Packers are currently 1-2 in games where Kraft did not exceed 30 receiving yards. So, unless tight end Luke Musgrave is able to step up and fill the large void Kraft is leaving behind, the Packers are in serious trouble of dropping a second straight game, coming off a low-scoring loss against the Carolina Panthers.
