Lions vs. Cardinals Predictions, Picks & Odds: NFL Week 5, 10/11
This is a big one here. And that’s especially true for the fantasy football folks. NFL games really don’t see over/unders much higher than 54.5. The books are expecting fireworks here, and the more we look over these teams, the less we see that can stop it.
The Detroit Lions have all sorts of offensive weapons. Jahmyr Gibbs and Amon-Ra St. Brown have legitimate claims as the top running back and wide receiver in football. Sam LaPorta himself was the fantasy TE1 only a couple of years ago. And Jameson Williams can explode for big plays. The defense, however, has struggled, especially without starting safeties Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph.
The Cardinals have plenty of their own offensive firepower. Trey McBride is widely considered the best pass-catching tight end in the league. Michael Wilson has grown into his own as a top offensive threat, and they are hoping that first-round picks Marvin Harrison Jr. and Jeremiyah Love break out at some point as well.
🏅 Lions vs. Cardinals Expert Pick: Jacoby Brissett Interception Over 0.5 (-106 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
Everything about this game tells us that the ball will be FLYING. The over/under is the highest that we have seen for any NFL game this season. The over/under for pass attempts for Jared Goff is set at 35.5 and, for Jacoby Brissett, it’s even higher at 37.5. And we’re not willing to bet the under on any of those.
What we are willing to bet on is Brissett making a mistake at some point. This same line for another gunslinging wild man, Jameis Winston, is set at -191. Brissett just last week came out and threw three picks, including a game-sealing pick-six in the red zone. In all likelihood, the Cardinals are going to end up with their backs to the wall in this shootout, and desperate times call for desperate measures. Shooters like Brissett are going to shoot, and I’d be surprised if he didn’t miss big with an interception at some point, so we are betting the over on that.

🏉 Lions vs. Cardinals Injury Report & Latest News
The Detroit Lions are 2-2 after some shaky defensive performances. But the offense is good enough to beat anyone. Jared Goff has been one of the most efficient passers in the league through four weeks with nine touchdown passes and zero interceptions. But, on the other end, Detroit is surrendering the most passing yards per game in the NFL (304.0). As we mentioned, both starting safeties are still out with Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph but that isn’t the end of it. Cornerbacks Ben Bartch (foot) and Rock Ya-Sin (hamstring) are both dealing with injuries as well. Adding a layer of intrigue to this matchup is that it is a “revenge game” for Drew Petzing, who left Arizona to be the Lions' offensive coordinator.
Arizona Cardinals fans are back in a familiar place. There are a lot of intriguing players on the roster, but it’s hard to compete in the NFL without a franchise quarterback. Trey McBride and Michael Wilson have been great, and the hope is that Marvin Harrison and Jeremiyah Love can be as well. Love is still a question mark for this game with an ankle issue that saw him telling reporters he’s “just trying to get through the season”. Isaiah Adams (ankle), Andrew Wingard (knee), and Jordan Burch (personal) all sat out Thursday, while Dadrion Taylor-Demerson (back) and Walter Nolen III (calf) were limited. Budda Baker, Isaac Seumalo, and Josh Sweat are all expected to play after rest days. We mentioned the Drew Petzing revenge narrative; defensive lineman Roy Lopez also returns to face the team he played for in Detroit last season.
