Look, watching great defense is impressive. Those chess matches can be incredible to watch. But you know what else is fun? Points. And this game, with a whopping 54.5-point over/under and two gunslinging quarterbacks, is set to bring lots of them. If you play fantasy football, this is what we like to call “one of them ones”.
The Arizona Cardinals come into this one in a familiar spot. They have some intriguing young pieces, like Trey McBride, Jeremiyah Love, and Walter Nolen. But they have yet to find their franchise quarterback, relying on veteran journeyman Jacoby Brissett for the interim. Brissett is capable of lighting up the box score but can also lose the game singlehandedly on his own. You never quite know what you are going to get.
And, as a matter of fact, Dak Prescott has a little bit of that in him as well. He’s a more polished, less volatile version, but the Cowboys lean on him week in and week out to win these games - or not. With weapons like CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and Javonte Williams, he’s much better equipped to get the job done. Though it doesn’t always work out like that in the NFL.
🏅 Cardinals vs. Cowboys Expert Pick: Kendrick Bourne Over 3.5 Receptions (+105 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
I’m a little confused by some of the lines surrounding this game. We expect this one to be a shootout (and so does Vegas). They have the over/under passing yards set high for Jacoby Brissett at 256.5. They have his pass attempts set high as well at 37.5 (Dak Prescott is at 33.5). All the lines for the Cowboys receivers are set high; Trey McBride is set where he usually is, but the ancillary pass-catchers for the Cardinals are set fairly low.
Kendrick Bourne is especially interesting for us. His receiving yards are set at 31.5 (-115) and receptions at 3.5 (+105). After trading Marvin Harrison Jr., they have been using Jalen Brooks at split end, who played 52 snaps last week and got five targets. However, he suffered a season-ending wrist injury. They signed Zay Jones and will use guys like Simi Fehoko and TE Elijah Higgins for some snaps, but Kendrick Bourne kind of has to be involved here, right? Since they traded Marv, he has gotten 8, 8, and 6 targets in those games, and that was before Brooks got hurt. So we’re going to take the plus money to bet that Kendrick Bourne catches some garbage-time junk this week.

🏉 Cardinals vs. Cowboys Injury Report & Latest News
One of the interesting aspects of the QB issue in Arizona is that rookie Carson Beck, who should get a shot at some point, is not healthy. He’s dealing with a back issue, which makes it highly unlikely the Cardinals risk throwing him in there under those conditions. That’s what has us confident in our Kendrick Bourne bet, as well as throwing Brissett in there in fantasy football for a spot start. Beyond the QB situation, cornerback Max Melton (questionable), safety Andrew Wingard (questionable), defensive tackle Walter Nolen III (questionable), and guard Jon Gaines II (questionable) are all in the mix injury-wise, giving the Cardinals a thin roster on both sides of the ball. Their running backs are also dealing with various ailments, as Jeremiyah Love was limited yesterday while working back from an ankle injury and Tyler Allgeier was a DNP with a toe issue.
The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a momentum-building Monday night win over the Eagles in Week 7 and are looking to stack wins at 3-4. The division is wide open with the Giants in first at 4-2-1. Their biggest offensive weapon is CeeDee Lamb, who ranks second in the league with 651 receiving yards and six touchdowns and remains the player the Cardinals defense will need to account for above all else. The Cowboys’ injury report is relatively mild heading into the week, which bodes well for them. Linebacker Dee Winters (questionable), offensive tackle Drew Shelton (questionable), and receiver KaVontae Turpin (questionable) are the notable names, while linebacker Marist Liufau and safety P.J. Locke remain on injured reserve with return designations. Hopefully both Dak Prescott and Jacoby Brissett can go punch for punch and give us a fun one here.
