Welcome to the Sunday Night Showdown Slate for NFL Week 8!
What an ugly one we get to watch tonight huh? The 2-5 Dallas Cowboys with Ben DiNucci under center against the 2-4-1 Philadelphia Eagles. The point spread here tells the story with the Eagles, despite their troubles, being 10.5-point favorites. Philly has both Dallas Goedert and Jalen Reagor returning to the field tonight for some added fire power. Few see this game being a competitive one and that makes this also tough for DFS because you do not know who to truly count on. With that said, let’s do our best here and break down today’s game.
Before we start, please allow me to reiterate that while we all love having a little skin in the game, these showdown slates are basically lottery tickets. Sure, there are times when the chalk hits and everyone shares in the prizes, but more often than not, you need that random, differentiate yourself from the herd dart-throw to hit in order to claim that top prize. As a result, we encourage to play responsibly. Stick to the GPP contests (single-entry preferred), don’t blow your whole bankroll and understand that, unless you are a max-entry player, you should prioritize having fun.
OK, lecture over. Let’s get to tonight’s action.

MVP/Captain
Eagles D/ST – Yes, the Cowboys offense is so dreadful right now under Ben DiNucci that the Eagles defense tonight is my top captain play. Sure, I realize the Cowboys still have the likes of Ezekiel Elliott , Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb but their offensive line is among the worst in the NFL and again, Ben DiNucci is under center here. I think we can expect the Eagles to dial up the pressure and force this Cowboys offense into some turnovers.
Carson Wentz , QB PHI – Maybe the only thing worse than the Cowboys offense right now is the Cowboys defense. Wentz is far and away the most expensive player on the slate but it is for good reason. Over the past two weeks Wentz has scored 30 DK points in each against the Giants and Ravens. We should be expecting big things here tonight.
Travis Fulgham, WR PHI – Yes, the Eagles are getting some players back tonight such as Dallas Goedert and Jalen Raegor but Fulgham should still very much be the top target tonight for Wentz. He has seen 10+ targets in three straight games.
Mid-Tier
Boston Scott , RB PHI – Scott saved fantasy owners last week with a late reception TD. He isn’t a great runner but really all they have right now with the injury to Miles Sanders. He should see solid volume here tonight in both the run and passing game.
Ezekiel Elliott , RB DAL – If you have to have someone coming back in this game it may be Elliott, now sure, this Eagles defense is going to clamp down on him when it comes to the run but prior to last week Elliott was being heavily used in the passing game as well It’s possible that we get back to that here as the Cowboys look to simplify the offense for the young QB.
Amari Cooper , WR DAL – Cooper caught all seven of his targets for 80 yards last week against the Washington Football team. The week prior he caught seven of 10 targets for 79 yards. It could very well be that regardless of circumstance Cooper gets his targets and production. He likely sees a lot of Darius Slay which isn’t the best but the Cowboys will throw the football tonight and Cooper should get his looks.
Dart Throws
Jalen Reagor, WR PHI – Obvious dart throw play here. Reagor has shown big play upside for the handful of plays he has been on the field this season. There is probably no better defense to take some downfield shots against this season than the Cowboys. While I don’t think Reagor goes out and plays a ton of snaps, I do think the offense will look to get him the football with a few shots tonight.
Dallas Goedert , TE PHI – Another big player returning for the Eagles. Like Reagor, the playing time for Goedert is the only thing holding us back from making him a lock and load play. He could very well be limited to red zone opportunities which would present solid upside.
