Another week in the books, and even more injuries to discuss. Fantasy football managers always struggle to navigate injuries, but this year it seems more star players are falling victim to the injury bug. With injuries aplenty, and the Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Chargers, and Washington Commanders on bye this week, managers have an additional set of challenges to navigate.
NFL Week 6 Injury Report: Quarterbacks
Michael Penix (Atlanta Falcons)
Penix Jr. was removed from this weekend's game against the Ravens with a rib injury. The team is hopeful that he will be good to go this week, but it's concerning to see yet another injury to the oft-injured QB. He will undergo an MRI this week, and we should see more information from there.
Baker Mayfield (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
Mayfield, who is dealing with a finger injury, is now in a smaller splint than he previously was. Head Coach Todd Bowles stated that they will see how Mayfield feels holding the football, and if he can grip the ball and practice, we may see a return to action sooner rather than later. If he’s unable to go, Jalon Daniels will receive another start in his place.
Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens)
Head coach Jesse Minter stated Lamar is progressing in his recovery from his ankle injury. It remains to be seen if he’ll be able to play this week, but it’s good to see he is trending in the right direction.
Caleb Williams (Chicago Bears)
While Caleb Williams was able to return to practice last week and was throwing before the game, head coach Ben Johnson remains non-committal on the return date for Williams. Practice this week should give us a clearer picture of his status moving forward.
NFL Week 6 Injury Report: Running Backs
Will Shipley (Philadelphia Eagles)
Shipley suffered a partially torn plantar fascia this weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Eagles RB room takes a hit again with Saquon Barkley dealing with a hamstring injury and Tank Bigsby on IR after core muscle surgery. Dameon Pierce will be the starter if Saquon can’t go this week, with Carson Steele as the backup.
Quinshon Judkins (Cleveland Browns)
Judkins was spotted with a walking boot on his right foot after Sunday’s loss to the Jets. This will be one to monitor, as a loss of Judkins will hit this offense hard, especially with the myriad of injuries already being experienced by the team’s running backs, with Dylan Sampson on IR and Raheim “Rocket” Sanders suffering a hip injury this weekend as well. It currently seems like this is more of a day-to-day injury, but one to watch regardless.
David Montgomery (Houston Texans)
Montgomery suffered a groin injury this weekend. Per head coach DeMeco Ryans, he is considered week-to-week. If he’s unable to practice or play this week, expect Woody Marks to operate as the RB1 for the offense.
TreVeyon Henderson (New England Patriots)
Henderson will undergo testing on his ankle after exiting the team's Week 5 matchup against the Raiders. Henderson’s injury opened the door for Rhamondre Stevenson to see a majority of the work again, but Corey Kiner also saw some usage and could be an interesting option if Henderson misses time.
Breece Hall (New York Jets)
Hall continues to deal with a quad injury that kept him out of practice last week. If he’s not able to return to practice this week, it’s likely that we'll see another Braelon Allen game. Allen is a capable back-up and recorded a 24/116/1 line in relief of the injured Hall last week.
Rico Dowdle (Pittsburgh Steelers)
Dowdle was limited in practice last week with a toe injury, but he did practice all three days. If he continues practicing this week with minimal issues, it’s likely we'll see him return to action this coming weekend.
Zach Charbonnet (Seattle Seahawks)
Charbonnet will not be activated this week, but is getting closer to a return. This would be a boost for the RB room with Jadarian Price on IR.
NFL Week 6 Injury Report: Wide Receivers
Roman Wilson (Pittsburgh Steelers)
Wilson suffered a finger injury that is expected to keep him out of action for multiple weeks. The team is already without Michael Pittman, which will put more pressure on DK Metcalf and Germie Bernard (who had his best game of the season this week).
DJ Moore (Buffalo Bills)
Moore was inactive last night, but has the potential to return next week. Practice reports this week will give us a clearer picture.
Jalen Coker (Carolina Panthers)
Coker was injured in the team's Week 4 game, and with the team on a bye last week, he’s expected to be able to play this coming weekend. Head coach Dave Canales said he’s on track to return, which bodes well for this offense as Coker has proven to be a solid weapon at points in his career.
KC Concepcion (Cleveland Browns)
Concepcion entered concussion protocol on Sunday, putting his Week 6 status in doubt. He had been consistently earning more and more targets, with 17 targets over his previous two games. His loss will be felt by the offense, which will be facing a divisional foe in the Ravens this week.
Tyquan Thornton (Kansas City Chiefs)
Thornton suffered a dislocated ankle against the Raiders and had surgery during the bye week. He’s expected to miss 12-16 weeks, eliminating him from fantasy for the rest of the season. He’s been placed on IR, but he’s not worth stashing on redraft rosters.
Rashee Rice (Kansas City Chiefs)
Rice also left the team's Week 4 game with a hamstring injury. It’s considered to be “relatively minor,” and he could be ready to go this week. That said, I will be monitoring practice reports through the week to get a better idea of his status.
A.J. Brown (New England Patriots)
Head coach Mike Vrabel stated that Brown may be able to return to practice this week. This would be a huge addition back to the Patriots offense that has struggled at times. They’ve turned it around of late, but the addition of Brown would add another weapon.
DeVonta Smith (Philadelphia Eagles)
Smith did not practice last week with a hamstring injury and missed the team's game this weekend as a result. We will need to monitor reports here, but should he miss this week's game, Darius Cooper and Dontayvion Wicks will operate as the top receiving options. Makai Lemon also continues to see more targets, and Dallas Goedert is as consistent as ever as well, and he looks to finally be healthy again.
Deebo Samuel (San Francisco 49ers)
Samuel left the team's win over the Seahawks with a hamstring injury. He will undergo an MRI to determine the extent of the injury, but Deebo’s loss would be a hit to an already weak WR room.
Tre' Harris (Los Angeles Chargers)
Harris suffered a hamstring injury and is considered week-to-week at this time. This WR room has been decimated by injury, and his loss will certainly be felt in what has already been an underwhelming offense to date.
NFL Week 6 Injury Report: Tight Ends
T.J. Hockenson (Minnesota Vikings)
Hockenson was ruled out this weekend with a concussion. He will enter the protocol, but with the team on a bye this week, managers will need another option at the position.
Kenyon Sadiq (New York Jets)
Sadiq suffered a concussion this weekend against the Browns. Sadiq has been up and down this year, much like the Jets offense as a whole, but showed what he’s capable of with a 7-catch, 105-yard, and 1-touchdown performance against the Lions.
