NFL Week 5 gave us plenty of clarity across fantasy leagues, validating several key start/sit decisions that propelled managers to victory. Locking Jared Goff into your starting lineup proved to be a masterclass call, as the Lions signal-caller erupted for four total touchdowns (three passing, one rushing) and 271 yards in a 45-21 rout of Arizona. D'Andre Swift also rewarded fantasy owners handsomely with a dominant multi-touchdown performance. On the flip side, benching New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo (who was held to just 59 rushing yards against Washington) and aging veteran Alvin Kamara of the New Orleans Saints allowed you to dodge low-floor performances and plug in much higher-upside alternatives. Managing fantasy football matchups in Week 6 requires that same precision as bye weeks begin to shrink available rosters.
Best Fantasy Football Matchups for Week 6
Josh Allen, QB Buffalo Bills
Allen remains the single highest-ceiling play in fantasy football, and his Week 6 matchup offers elite production potential. Allen continues to dominate both in the air and on the ground, creating a safe weekly floor backed by game-breaking upside. Facing a pass defense that ranks near the bottom of the league in fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks, Allen should have no trouble picking apart the soft zone coverage of the Las Vegas Raiders. Fire him up as the undisputed QB1 overall for best fantasy football matchups this week.
Jonathan Taylor, RB Indianapolis Colts
He’s the driving force behind my choice of the Colts for NFL Week 6 survivor contests. Taylor operates as a complete bell-cow back in the Colts' high-volume rushing offense. Week 6 presents a dream matchup against a Titans defense allowing over 4.5 yards per carry and abundant goal-line opportunities. With Indianapolis favored at home, game script will heavily favor a run-heavy approach in the second half. Expect 20-plus touches and high-end RB1 numbers from Taylor in one of the best fantasy football matchups on the slate.
Tetairoa McMillan, WR Carolina Panthers
Second-year standout wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan has quickly established himself as the primary target in Carolina's passing attack, commanding a massive target share. In Week 6, McMillan faces an Eagles secondary that struggles to defend perimeter routes and ranks inside the top five in receiving yards surrendered to opposing WR1s. Given his elite deep-threat capability and red-zone target volume, McMillan is primed for a massive breakout performance and is a locked-in WR2 with WR1 upside.
Worst Fantasy Football Matchups for Week 6
Justin Herbert, QB Los Angeles Chargers
Just like the entire 2026 season, Herbert faces an uphill battle in Week 6 against a ferocious Chiefs pass-rush and a secondary that has stifled opposing passing attacks all season. Compounded by injuries along the offensive line, Herbert will likely be under constant pressure, severely limiting his downfield opportunities. In what projects to be a low-scoring, defensive affair, Herbert belongs firmly in the worst fantasy football matchups category and is best left on the bench in 12-team single-QB leagues.
Woody Marks, RB Houston Texans
Marks enters Week 6 in a brutal road matchup against a Jaguars run defense that shuts down opposing backs at the line of scrimmage. Houston's offensive line has struggled to create push in the run game, and Marks faces a front seven that ranks among the top three in fewest fantasy points allowed to running backs. With game script likely forcing Houston into obvious passing situations, Marks' floor is dangerously low, even without David Montgomery there to split carries.
Michael Wilson, WR Arizona Cardinals
Wilson has shown flashes of reliability, but Week 6 presents one of his toughest tests of the 2026 season. Wilson is slated to matchup against a shutdown cornerback unit that features Trent McDuffie and excels at press coverage, limiting yards after the catch. With limited projected team total points and difficult individual matchups on the outside, Wilson is, unfortunately, one of the clearest worst fantasy football matchups on the board for wide receivers.
Fantasy Football Matchups to Target
Cam Skattebo, RB New York Giants
While benching Skattebo paid dividends last week, Week 6 offers the ideal bounce-back spot to insert him back into your starting lineup. The Giants face a leaky Saints run defense that surrenders high-percentage missed tackle rates and ample receiving work out of the backfield. They also happen to rank dead-last in DVOA against the run. Skattebo's heavy volume, averaging double-digit carries alongside targeted involvement in the screen game, gives him a solid floor and high touchdown probability. Don’t sweat last week’s fumble in the rain and target Skattebo as a strong FLEX or high-end RB2 option.
Harold Fannin, TE Cleveland Browns
Browns tight end Harold Fannin has quietly built a strong case for weekly fantasy relevance, serving as a safety valve in Cleveland's offense. In Week 6, Fannin faces a Ravens defense that has surrendered major production to tight ends over the middle of the field. Given the scarcity at the position, Fannin's growing target share makes him a top matchup streamer with legitimate TE1 upside.
Fantasy Football Matchups to Avoid
Bo Nix, QB Denver Broncos
Nix has provided steady play, but Week 6 presents a matchup to actively avoid on Thursday night. Even though they are at home, they face a tough Seattle defense that forces turnovers at a high rate and severely limits rushing yards from quarterbacks. Nix's dual-threat upside is expected to be heavily suppressed. Fantasy managers relying on Nix should look toward other streamable options with much more favorable matchups, like Kirk Cousins or even Daniel Jones.
Hunter Henry, TE New England Patriots
Henry remains a touchdown-dependent option at tight end, and Week 6 offers very little optimism. His opponent, the New York Jets, ranks as one of the stingiest defenses in the league against tight ends (fourth in DVOA against the position), allowing minimal yardage and zero touchdowns to them through five weeks. If Henry doesn't find the end zone, his low target floor will sink your fantasy lineup. Avoid Henry in Week 6 whenever possible.
