When it comes to playing DFS there are often week-to-week fluctuations in pricing for players based on performance and matchups. As we enter Week 8 of the NFL season and examine the NFL DFS Week 8 main slate on DraftKings let’s look at some players like Michael Carter of the Jets and Josh Jacobs of the Raiders of the Dolphins whose price tag has risen and decide whether or not they are now worth spending up for as well as taking a look at those players like Tyler Higbee of the Rams whose price has fallen this week and decide if their new value makes them a worthwhile play.

DraftKings NFL DFS Week 8 Risers

D’Onta Foreman, Carolina Panthers - $1300 RISE to $5.3K

Foreman and Chuba Hubbard are the new main backs in a bad Carolina offense after the Christian McCaffrey trade to the 49’ers. Hubbard started the game, but it was a running back by committee as Foreman played 27 snaps to Hubbard’s 23 and outcarried Hubbard 15-9. However, Hubbard did tweak his ankle late in the game and did not return. If Hubbard is forced to miss any time with the injury, Foreman would be in line for a bell-cow role, especially after the 15/118 rushing and 2/27 receiving line on Sunday. This is a situation that we must monitor over the week but even with one of the biggest salary hikes on the slate from Week 7, Foreman is still only the 27th-highest priced runner and faces an Atlanta run defense that is ranked 28th out of 32 NFL teams in points to running backs.

Michael Carter, New York Jets - $1100 RISE to $5.9K

Carter sees a big bump this week in DraftKings salary with Breece Hall now out for the season (ACL). The Jets did trade for James Robinson but he will need to learn the playbook, so Carter should be the focus this week in a Jets offense that has become more run-heavy since Zach Wilson returned. Carter is coming off a decent 2021 rookie season when he rushed for 639 yards and 4 touchdowns on 147 carries and added 36 catches on 55 targets for another 325 yards. The ability that he showed as a passing down back last year should help with his DFS production this week against the Patriots.

Josh Jacobs, Las Vegas Raiders - $1000 RISE to $7.5K

Jacobs is coming a monster performance where he rushed for 143 yards on 20 carries and three touchdowns. He now has three straight games of 33+ DK fantasy points and was over 80% snap share again. Jacobs has also been more involved in the passing game, he’s still scoring the majority of his fantasy points on the ground, with 20+ carries in three straight games and he has multiple rushing touchdowns in every Raiders win this season. Jacobs is a game changer this season and even with a $1.0K jump on DraftKings, he is firmly in play in all formats this week.

DraftKings NFL DFS Week 8 Fallers

Deon Jackson, Indianapolis Colts - $1000 FALL to $4.9K

Well, it was fun while it lasted for Deon Jackson. In Week 6 the former Duke star carried the football 12 times for 42 yards and a TD and caught all 10 of his targets for 79 yards to end with a big 28 DK fantasy point afternoon. He was the main runner out of the backfield with fellow RBs Jonathan Taylor (ankle) and Nyheim Hines (concussion) out and didn’t disappoint scoring nearly 6X his salary. Last week though he had only two carries for three yards while playing only five snaps with both Taylor and Hines returning from injuries. Even with a $1000 salary drop Jackson is unplayable this week in DFS as he is back to a deep reserve role.

Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams - $400 FALL to $4.2K

Higbee is coming off a 1.7-point DK fantasy performance against Carolina where he caught one of only two targets for seven yards. He was dealing with an ankle injury in that game and that may have played into his lack of fantasy output. Now Higbee is coming off a bye week and gets to face the same 49ers team that he lit up for 10 catches (14 targets) and 73 yards in Week 4. The veteran has dropped down to only the sixth-highest priced TE on the slate and is at his lowest salary since Week 2. He is viable in DFS this week due to the price but if Van Jefferson returns from IR and Allen Robinson continues to show some signs of life, Higbee becomes more of a floor play with a limited ceiling.

Drake London/Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons - $300 FALL

The Falcons were trailing the Bengals by three touchdowns over the entire game on Sunday, yet Marcus Mariota still threw only a total of 13 passes. Pitts was targeted on five of them, catching three passes for nine yards and London was targeted once and he caught it for nine yards.. London has not seen double digit DK fantasy points since Week 3 and Pitts has been held to 25 or fewer receiving yards in five of his six games this year. These are two huge talents who play in the single worst offensive environment in the league so even with a $300 price drop neither are playable until further notice.
