Week 8 is here, and it’s a unique slate as we’re coming off some shorter slates in recent weeks due to the NFL’s commitment to “growing the game” by showcasing the product in other countries. But with no international game this week, we have 11 games on the main slate, giving us 22 defenses/special teams to choose from for our NFL DFS Week 8 DST picks.
This is also a unique slate because when you have two quarterbacks like Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson, sometimes one of them is off the main slate, whether due to a primetime game, a Bye week, or an injury. So it’s an even rarer occasion when they’re competing against each other on the same main slate.
Because of that, we really have to pick and choose our spots with how we identify our stacks. I know this is a DST preview, but I’m personally only using quarterbacks who I believe can break the slate. So that obviously includes Allen and Jackson. But I’m also looking at quarterbacks who can match or exceed their ceiling if the slate falls the right way. I may be limiting my prospects, but there is still leverage to be had even when playing chalky quarterbacks on a slate like this.
Now, with this said, this article will preview our NFL DFS Week 8 DST picks, which is the one position of variance for NFL DFS lineups, and it’s the last piece of the puzzle. There are affordable options with upside at this position in Week 8, so I’ll do my best to help you identify the options that help us build our bankroll.
NFL DFS Week 8 DST Picks
Cincinnati Bengals – DraftKings: $3,800 | FanDuel: $4,800
The Bengals are the biggest favorites on the Sunday main slate (-12.5), which gives the visiting Tennessee Titans an implied team total of just 17 points. We’ve been utilizing defenses playing the Titans all year, and for the most part, it’s worked. All the way up until Tony Pollard decided to rush for 100+ yards and three touchdowns on the Cleveland Browns. But I digress…
The Bengals have the ability to go out and collect four sacks, maybe some turnovers, and keep the Titans out of the end zone. This defense is much better than what we’re used to from previous seasons. Cam Ward hasn’t exactly made great strides in his second year to signal to the organization that they believe he’s the future. Otherwise, why would they be dealing Jeffery Simmons ahead of the NFL Trade Deadline?
Ward is very prone to mistakes, and he’s thrown an interception in each of his last five games. He’s 28th among qualified starting quarterbacks in EPA/play (-0.12), 27th in success rate (40.9%), and 29th in quarterback rating (41.2) so we’ll take the low-hanging fruit and squeeze the Bengals DST into our NFL DFS lineups this week. And if you think Chase Brown can take advantage of this matchup following Simmons being shipped to the Chicago Bears, then there’s some correlation in play as well.
Kansas City Chiefs – DraftKings: $3,400 | FanDuel: $4,600
For the record, I think both DST’s are in play for this AFC West matchup in Denver. The Broncos are just $2,300 on DraftKings and $4,100 on FanDuel at home, and this game has one of the lowest totals on the main slate. So if you need some value and just want to put your faith into a good DST (like the next team we’ll get to), then I’m fine punting to the Broncos.
But the Chiefs stick out to me as a team looking to bounce back after a tough loss in primetime in Week 7. And while I was a person who played Bo Nix in 3-of-20 of my GPP lineups a week ago, even I acknowledge that nearly half his fantasy production came on a 62-yard run into the end zone. Overall, he’s still having a rough year. He ranks 26th among qualified starting quarterbacks in EPA/play (-0.05), 30th in success rate (36.8%), 27th in completion percentage over expected (-2.7%), and he’s dead last in average depth of target (5.7 yards). Moreover, he’s completed over 60% of his pass attempts just once in his last five games.
The Chiefs only have eight total sacks in six games, but they can force multiple turnovers, and Bo Nix is a quarterback prone to turnovers. So in this matchup where Vegas isn’t projecting much offense, I’m fine utilizing the Chiefs as they work to put some space between themselves and the Broncos in the AFC West.
Minnesota Vikings – DraftKings: $3,000 | FanDuel: $4,300
You’re all probably sick of my hyping up this DST on a weekly basis, but just because they’re playing the Detroit Lions doesn’t mean I’m going to shy away from utilizing this team when they’re being offered at a discount. Am I going to target them as much as I normally do? I doubt it, but that doesn’t mean I’m fading them entirely.
The Vikings don’t just sit back and wait for the game to come to them. They’re proactive and work to disrupt the flow and tempo of the opposing offense. They want a sack or turnover on every defensive snap. This Brian Flores-led defense leads the league in blitz rate (66.5%), pressure rate (49.0%), and sack rate (10.2%). They’ve held each of their last five opponents to 16 or fewer points, and they have allowed 300+ yards of offense just once since Week 1.
And to be objective, their recent opponents don’t have the offensive firepower the Lions have. This is also a road matchup for Minnesota. So while I’m scaling back my exposure, this is a DST that has returned at least eight fantasy points every week so far, and we know they have an immense ceiling. We aren’t chasing them in cash games necessarily, but I love getting some exposure in tournaments.
Best NFL DFS DST Values for Week 8
Best DraftKings DST Value – Los Angeles Chargers; $2,000
This will certainly raise some eyebrows, but last week we had the Tampa Bay Buccaneers listed among our best NFL DFS DST values for Week 7, and they broke the slate with 27 fantasy points. They were coming off a Bye week and went on the road against a young, mistake-prone quarterback. I’m fine going with the Chargers if I absolutely have to punt the DST position on DraftKings.
Now, to be fair to the Chargers and Los Angeles Rams, this is technically a home game for the Rams, but it’s the same barn the Bolts play in, and they’re coming off their Bye week, so they have fresh legs. But the Rams still have an implied team total of 26 points, and that makes sense when you consider Sean McVay’s aggressive play calling on offense and the fact that the Rams can still put points on the board. But two weeks ago, this offense put up just 16 points against the Arizona Cardinals, and they won’t have Davante Adams for this game.
Again, this is the last piece for our NFL DFS lineups. If you have a lineup you really like with plenty of exposure to players in the potential shootout matchups, then you can plug in the Chargers and just hope for a few points while the rest of your lineup does the heavy lifting.
Best FanDuel DST Value – Atlanta Falcons; $3,700
Identifying the top value play on FanDuel is tricky. By all means, the Chargers are an option at $3,100 if you’re okay punting, but to add a second option, I’ll go with the Falcons. The Falcons are coming off a huge win after beating the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7, giving them their first loss of the 2026 season. But the defense is rather unheralded, and they’re capable of delivering some fantasy football production.
The Falcons don’t have the most proactive pass rush in the NFL (22.8% blitz rate), but they generate the sixth-highest pressure rate (42.7%), and they’ve had multiple sacks in all but one game this season. Sure, the Bucs are also coming off a dominant win over the Carolina Panthers a week ago, but that was on the backs of their defense. The offense has sputtered at times as the team sits at 2-5.
And if you’re a “lineup theory” nerd, the Falcons are an affordable way to correlate your DST with a running back if you choose to roster Bijan Robinson in this matchup. But overall, this is the kind of game the Falcons can stake their claim on the NFC South and do it in defensive style against Baker Mayfield, who ranks 31st among qualified quarterbacks in EPA/play (-0.17).
NFL DFS DST Fade for Week 8
Dallas Cowboys – DraftKings: $3,200 | FanDuel: $4,000
I don’t know how DraftKings priced Dallas as the seventh-most expensive DST on the main slate this week, but this is such an easy fade for Week 8. A week ago we faded the San Francisco 49ers DST after they played on Monday Night Football the week prior. For the latest NFL DFS Week 8 DST picks, we’ll look to fade Dallas for similar reasons.
Yes, Dallas got a win on Monday Night Football, so this is a short week for them. But they’re also just a terrible defense. Every opposing quarterback turns into Josh Allen against this DST, which is why Jacoby Brissett is such an appealing, cheap quarterback for this slate.
The Cowboys just cannot defend anything. The floor so far this year for the Minnesota Vikings has been eight fantasy points. The ceiling for the Cowboys has been five fantasy points. They’ve allowed every opponent to score 20+ points on them and they have just four defensive takeaways on the season. So while the Cowboys are favored by a touchdown at home, the Arizona Cardinals still have an implied team total of nearly 24 points. This is an easy fade for Week 8 on DraftKings and FanDuel.
NFL DFS Week 8 DST Play of the Week
Jacksonville Jaguars – DraftKings: $3,700 | FanDuel: $4,700
The Jaguars are among the bigger favorites on the NFL DFS Week 8 main slate. As of Friday morning, they’re favored by 10 points against the Indianapolis Colts, who have an implied team total of just over 18 points. It’s fairly clear that the Colts are going into a full rebuild. They’re fielding offers for Jonathan Taylor and Josh Downs after already trading offensive guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks.
The Jags are also back home after playing overseas in Weeks 5 and 6. So fresh off their Bye week, they’re looking to feast in this AFC South matchup. Daniel Jones has been fairly terrible this year. Among qualified quarterbacks, he ranks 29th in EPA/play (-0.14) and 29th in completion percentage over expected (-4.0%). Jones has just five total touchdowns on the year with 10 turnovers, and he hasn’t completed 60% of his pass attempts in a game since Week 3. This feels like a potential slate-breaking kind of matchup for Jacksonville, and they pair nicely with Bhayshul Tuten at the running back position.
