NBA Showdown Playbook March 11: Sacramento Kings vs. Phoenix Suns
Kevin Durant we hardly knew you. Just three game games into his stint with the Phoenix Suns, and Durant is already sidelined for the remainder of the regular season. That means we are back to a Suns team that is mildly shorthanded with Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson now in Brooklyn, but it doesn’t mean that they can’t compete in the Western Conference. Tonight’s NBA DFS Showdown Slate has the aforementioned Suns facing the surprisingly surging Kings, so let us take a look at some options to consider for your lineups.

NBA DFS MVP/Captain Picks
Devin Booker, Phoenix Suns
Booker has shot at least 50% from the field in each of his last four games, averaging 60%, and he really went nuts on Wednesday making 17 of 23 shots in a blowout victory against the Thunder. The guard needed just 28 minutes to score 44 points as he continues to light up the scoreboard for Phoenix. With Durant back out of the lineup, more of the offense will fall on Booker and it is great matchup for tonight against the Kings.
De’Aaron Fox, Sacramento Kings
Not to discount some of the other top players taking the court tonight, but the focus is going to be Booker and his counterpart of Fox. Fox is averaging 27 points and seven assists in his last three games as he continues to play at a high level as he is ultimately the go to offensive threat for the Kings down the stretch when it counts in the fourth quarter.
Domantas Sabonis, Sacramento Kings
Tonight, we get to see if Sabonis will put together his third straight triple-double in a season that has been full of them as he continues to fill the box score on a nightly basis. For the last month, at a minimum, we have gotten a double-double at a minimum from Sabonis, and with this level of production, it is perfectly fine that he doesn’t really flash offensive upside much past 24 or 25 points a game.
NBA DFS Utility Picks
Deandre Ayton, Phoenix Suns
Once Durant joined the Suns, Ayton’s offense took a backseat, but I would expect that to change once again now that the forward is sidelined. After combining for just 10 shots in two games, Ayton was a little busier on Wednesday, but thanks to the blowout victory his services were only needed for 24 minutes. There is a great chance at a double-double here as Ayton also has two games of 16 rebounds each in his last four.
Keegan Murray, Sacramento Kings
Murray continues to reach his stride for the Kings in his rookie season putting up double figures offensive on a nightly basis. Sacramento will continue to expand his role as he gets more and more comfortable and it makes sense that they would increase his volume and workload as he is proving capable.
Kevin Huerter, Sacramento Kings
Huerter has been a solid addition for the Kings this season, and the swingman is averaging 21.2 points per game in his last five and at 30 minutes per game, there is ample time for him to hoist up enough shots to get us the necessary production.
Chris Paul, Phoenix Suns
Following the same logic as with Ayton, it will be interesting to see If Paul’s offensive output jumps back up now that Durant is out of the picture. We began to see that on Wednesday as Paul scored 18 points in 24 minutes, and the good news is that the offense will not come at the expense of the nine assists (along with double-digit upside) he is averaging per game this year.
NBA DFS Showdown Dart Throws
Terrance Ross, Phoenix Suns
There was some garbage time involved here, but Ross did score 24 points in 23 minutes on Wednesday. Based on the Suns’ rotation, it wouldn’t surprise me to see a similar workload out of Ross moving forward, but I’m not sure we can count on 13 shots out of him once again.
Malik Monk, Sacramento Kings
Efficiency was the friend of Monk on Thursday as he scored 19 points in 20 minutes of action. The workload should continue to be consistent, but we are banking both shot volume and efficiency here.
