For tonight’s NBA DFS Showdown breakdown, we’re looking at the late-night hammer between the Dallas Mavericks and Denver Nuggets. Kyrie Irving is back for the Dallas Mavericks, so both teams are very close to full strength, just Dallas is missing Maxi Kleber. Denver, at home, are nearly seven-point favorites. Finding some of the NBA DFS top picks could be made easier if you take a look at Fantasy Alarm’s NBA DFS Projections, powered by FanJections. Let’s dive into the complete breakdown for tonight’s showdown slate

NBA DFS Showdown CPT/MVP Top Plays

Nikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets or Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks

So this may be the one time I ever include players from opposite teams on the same line. This is splitting hairs. If you try fitting both and use Jokic at the captain’s spot, you have 4.5K left on DK. If you use Doncic at captain you have 4.4K left. REALLY hard to get much done, but those two alone might net you 150-175 showdown points combined. I’d advise using one at CPT unless you have a strong conviction elsewhere.

NBA DFS Showdown UTIL Top Plays

Jamal Murray, Denver Nuggets

On any given night, Murray can go out and give the opposing team 30 actual and stuff the box score and nobody is surprised. Murray hasn’t shown his ceiling off much this year, but has failed to score less than 30 DKP in any game this year.

Aaron Gordon, Denver Nuggets

The junkyard dog for the Nuggets, this guy does EVERYTHING for them. He’s likely going to guard the opposing teams best player, too. I like Gordon’s upside in showdown especially when his shot is falling and is getting easy baskets thanks to Nikola Jokic.

Tim Hardaway Jr., Dallas Mavericks

THJ has been a very steady scoring option for Dallas off of their bench thus far. Even when Kyrie Irving was healthy in game number one, Hardaway poured in 17 points and 33.5 DKP. He’s not going to break the slate, but if his shot continues to fall the way it has he has a solid floor.

NBA DFS Showdown Value Plays

Christian Braun, Denver Nuggets

As Braun’s gotten healthier as the season has picked up, he’s slid into the sixth man role for this Denver team as projected. He’s looked good in doing so too, stuffing the stat sheet and topping 24 DKP in three straight games. If any foul trouble occurs, he’s going to approach 30 minutes, which we’ve already seen once this year.

Derrick Jones Jr., Dallas Mavericks

I fear Jones’ role will diminish with Kyrie Irving returning, but he’s another cheap play that helps you get Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic. Jones Jr. has started all year and in each of the last two games he’s topped 27 minutes, 17 points, and 26 DKP.

Dwight Powell, Dallas Mavericks

I think if you want a punt play, it’s Powell. That’s if you elect to not simply throw a position away. Maxi Kleber has been ruled out which puts Powell in play to be the backup center. What if starting center Derrick Lively II gets in foul trouble? Powell will be asked to take on a bigger role. At just 2K, we’re not looking for much.
