NBA DFS Showdown Slate Picks
MVP/Captain
Anthony Davis, Los Angeles Lakers
Anthony Davis is the highest-priced play on the slate tonight. Davis has not played the second night of a back-to-back since coming back from injury. It will be interesting how they will deploy him tonight in such a huge game. He is also coming off a game last night in which he played 42 minutes. We could see some tired legs from AD tonight, and we may want to fade him a bit tonight.
Kawhi Leonard, Los Angeles Clippers
Kawhi exploded in the Clippers last game against the New Orleans Pelicans. Leonard finished going 15-28 from the field for 40 points and eight rebounds for 59 fantasy points. The time is now for Kawhi to put the Clippers on his back tonight as he did for Toronto a few years back. Kawhi is my favorite play at the captain spot tonight.
LeBron James, Los Angeles Clippers
Like Anthony Davis, James hasn't played on the second night of a back-to-back since returning from injury. He played 38 minutes last night but I expect him to be a full go tonight in such a huge game. I do fear for some tired legs, but he should still be fine with how much he has the ball in his hands. I am fine playing Bron tonight, I would just rather play Leonard at the captain spot.
Utility
Russell Westbrook, Los Angeles Clippers
Can I interest you in a Russell Westbrook revenge game? We all know that Westbrook would like nothing more than to go off against his former squad and stay ahead of them in the standings. I expect a big night from Westbrook tonight from a fantasy perspective and he should be in your lineup.
Austin Reaves, Los Angeles Lakers
I am happy I was on Austin Reaves before it was cool to be on him. This kid is good, and I expect him to get paid this off season. Over his past five games, he is averaging over 18 points per game and just under six assists for 30 fantasy points per game. Reaves is expensive now, but with him being one of the younger guys on this square I expect him to produce even after 41 minutes last night.
Norman Powell, Los Angeles Clippers
Powell hasn't quite produced like we would like him to since coming back from injury. He hasn't scored over 30 fantasy points since mid-February. He would have had a pretty good fantasy performance in the Clippers last game but he had six turnovers against those great defensive wings for the Pelicans. I look for Powell to break out of his mini-slump tonight and have a solid game.
Ivica Zubac, Los Angeles Clippers
It will be interesting to see how much they deploy Zubac on AD or if they're going to want the more athletic Mason Plumlee on Davis. Zubac is a safe play no matter what though, he has scored at least 20 fantasy points in six straight games, and should be no different tonight. If he gets going on the boards tonight he could put up huge numbers.
Dart Throws
Rui Hachimura, Los Angeles Lakers
Hachimura has become a solid player in this rotation the last two games. Rui has scored 26 and 43 fantasy points in his last two games on the back of 17-25 from the field over that stretch. Will that continue tonight? We are not sure, but they may lean on him the second night of a back-to-back, especially if Russell is out once again.
Nicolas Batum, Los Angeles Clippers
Batum is the definition of a dart throw. He can either give you 10 fantasy points or 40 on any given night. The bright spot is in his last matchup against the Lakers he scored 22 fantasy points. You will take that at his price point tonight, as you may need him in your lineup as a salary-saver.
