We're waiting on multiple pieces of news as Anthony Davis, Jalen Duren, Ben Simmons, and Bradley Beal are all listed as questionable. Zion Williamson has already been ruled out and Walker Kessler and the aforementioned Ben Simmons have been downgraded today. We have two games with 240 totals to boot, so some VERY appealing spots to attack.

Highest NBA Game Totals

Top Tier Core Plays

Nikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets & Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers

I’m putting both guys here because we’re splitting hairs. Jokic has the better match-up but is coming in higher owned. Embiid has shown how good of a passer he is with James Harden out of town and is getting barely any ownership coming his way. I lean toward Jokic, but Embiid is fantastic GPP leverage.

LaMelo Ball, Charlotte Hornets

Today’s most popular spend-up was someone Jon Impemba and I gushed over on the NBA DFS podcast this morning. Everything lines up for Ball. Terry Rozier is out, and Washington is first in pace and last in defensive rating. Ball is averaging 1.63 FP/min without Rozier this season is coming off a slate-breaking performance last time out and is still under 9K on DK.

Tyrese Haliburton, Indiana Pacers

I like LaMelo Ball more, as does the field, but Haliburton has flashed a much higher ceiling/floor combination this season. This game, like the Hornets game, has a 240+ total, two top-10 teams in pace, and yet, Haliburton is 38% less owned. Haliburton has averaged 1.58 FP/min this year and is an elite pivot off of LaMelo Ball

Mid-Tier Core Plays

Kyle Kuzma, Washington Wizards

I’m really in on the Wizards today. This is a game they can actually stay competitive in. In all three games in which Kuzma’s played 30 minutes, he’s put up 44+ DKP. He shoots a lot, he has stuffed the stat sheet and has a fantastic match-up against the Hornets.

Michael Porter Jr., Denver Nuggets

I’m good at getting to either Porter or Aaron Gordon, but Porter typically has a higher-scoring ceiling. He’s put up 22+ points and 38+ DKP in three straight games and this year, without Jamal Murray, he averages 1.06 FP/min. Porter’s loved playing in Denver this year averaging 35 DKP/game compared to 27 DKP/game on the road.

Gordon Hayward, Charlotte Hornets

Terry Rozier is out and Gordon Hayward continues to be awesome each and every time out. Hayward is averaging 36.3 DKP/game and three times he’s put up 39+ DKP in five games. With Rozier sidelined, he’s taken 23 and 17 shots in the last two games. Everything about this game environment is great.

John Collins, Utah Jazz

It was pretty surprising to see how good Collins has been without Walker Kessler this season and he has the second-biggest minute sample without him. He’s averaged 1.13 FP/min this season with Kessler off the floor and that’s ELITE. This game total has climbed to 242.5, second on the team behind Lauri Markkanen.

Value Tier Core Plays

Daniel Gafford, Washington Wizards

Please just stay out of foul trouble, dude. Please. Gafford’s been a .94 FP/min producer this year and we saw how good he can be last time out. I love the matchup, I love the game total, and I love the price a LOT. In the two games he’s played 28 minutes he’s put up at least 28 DKP.

Jordan Hawkins, New Orleans Pelicans

The shots will come, but will they go in? That’s been the Jordan Hawkins experience thus far. He drew the start last time out and was a slate-winning play. Hawkins is going to be super-chalk with CJ McCollum and Zion Williamson out. Expect him to shoot a LOT to try and keep the Pelicans in this game.

Marcus Sasser & Killian Hayes, Detroit Pistons

There’s no real downside to getting to Marcus Sasser today. Alec Burks and Jaden Ivey are OUT and whether this game stays competitive or blows out, he’s playing. He’s played 30+ minutes in back-to-back games, 23+ in four straight, and is closing games. It’s a 12.5-point spread and we’ve seen in blowouts this year, Sasser closes. Sasser has been at 1.04 FP/min this year, which is GREAT at his price point. Hayes, on the other hand, has looked excellent over the last three games. He’s put up 25+ DKP in three straight games and has 42 in his last outing. Hayes can stuff the stat sheet, but he has a ceiling when shots fall.

Jaden McDaniels, Minnesota Timberwolves

His minutes had been capped in the first three games of the year and then the overtime game against Boston came and he played 45 (!) minutes. He played the final 13 minutes of the game, then all five overtime minutes. That means he played 40 regulation minutes. McDaniels is REALLY cheap and is coming off 20 actual points. New Orleans is a bottom-10 defense in basketball.

Jae Crowder, Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks will be without Khris Middleton for this game which means we should see extended run for Crowder. He’s firmly been in the team’s rotation to begin with. He’s played 24-30 minutes every game this year and in the one game Middleton missed, he played 15 first half minutes but there was a blowout, so well on his way to 30 in that game. Crowder has averaged 14.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.0 steals, and 26.5 DKP/game over his last two and is now sub-4K.

*ADDED* Kelly Olynyk, Utah Jazz

Walker Kessler opened today up as questionable and has been downgraded to doubtful. Olynyk has really been his direct backup this year and has played 18+ minutes in every game this season. Olynyk has 30+ minute upside here as well as 30+ DKP upside. He’s just 4.5K, in arguably the best game on the board, and the cherry on top is the 1.07 FP/min without Kessler on the floor this year.
