NBA Injury Report & Waiver Wire Ahead of Week 10 Games: Tyler Herro, Zach Lavine, Mitchell Robinson & More
Welcome to Week 10 of the NBA! As mentioned this is the second-third of the NBA season. We are seeing better individual performances, players returning to health, and rookie minutes starting to increase. There are a few injuries to review from the past week. There are a few players that are worth rostering off of the waiver wire as well.
This week’s column looks to add depth to fantasy basketball rosters. While also helping fantasy basketball managers navigate a busy and bizarre holiday NBA schedule. For the most part NBA rosters are set and minutes have been divided. But remember the Fantasy Alarm hoops team can be found on our Discord to help with any specific fantasy basketball decisions.
NBA Injury Report Week 10
Kristaps Porzingis, Guard, Atlanta Falcons: Illness
Porzingis is dealing with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, and it once again has him sidelined. It is not certain when he will return, and he is droppable in most formats. Most of all we just hope he’s okay regardless of basketball.
Drake Powell, Guard, Brooklyn Nets: Ankle
Powell exited the game against the Miami Heat with an ankle injury. He earned just four minutes of game time, but it is not believed to be severe. He could be back as soon as Tuesday.
Peyton Watson, Forward, Denver Nuggets: Leg
Watson sat out the game against the Houston Rockets with a “trunk contusion”, but appears he could play in the next game against the Orlando Magic. Monitor his situation as he is a potential starter.
Brandon Clarke, Center, Memphis Grizzlies: Calf
Clarke injured his calf after four minutes of court time. It was sad as he just worked his way back from injury, and the Grizzlies needed him with Zach Edey out. He could play in their next game, but it’s a situation that must be monitored. If he’s healthy he could play several minutes.
Tyler Herro, Guard, Miami Heat: Toe
Herro made his 2025 debut at the end of last month, but has only played six games. His toe injury has kept him out longer than anticipated, and he could return this week. However he may miss some games too. Keep him on the roster, or pick him up if he’s been dropped.
Zach Lavine, Guard, Sacramento Kings: Ankle
Lavine injured his ankle against the Minnesota Timberwolves last week, and has yet to return. He could play in Tuesday’s loaded slate or they could give him four additional days of rest.
Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Week 10
Mitchell Robinson, Center, New York Knicks: Rostered in 18% of Sleeper Leagues
Robinson may have experienced a rise in fantasy basketball rosters due to his great NBA Cup performance. He is a player that maximizes his fantasy value with minimal court time. He is a true center who earns most points via rebounds. He has 5 or more rebounds in his last ten games, and 13 or more in four of those games.
Karl-Anthony Towns owners should handcuff him with Robinson. Most fantasy basketball leagues have at least one utility/flex position if not more. There are games that both are playable options because Robinson has stand alone value. He is having a wonderful December, pick him up off of the waiver wire.
Kyle Kuzma, Forward, MIlwaukee Bucks: Rostered in 43% of Sleeper Leagues (Starting in just 16%)
Kuzma has played in all but two games this season. One was the third game of the year, and the second was the most recent Milwaukee Bucks game. With Giannis Antetokounmpo out, Kuzma has been a scoring option for the Bucks.
He has played 27 or more minutes in his last four matches, and that has led to great production. He has double-digit points in every game, including 31 on December 11th. He has a combined 22 rebounds in that stretch, and five total assists. Milwaukee has six games remaining in December, and Kuzma will put up great fantasy basketball numbers. Pick him up off of the waiver wire, and to the 43% that have him, get him in the starting lineup.
Tre Jones, Guard/SF, Chicago Bulls: Rostered in 34% of Sleeper Leagues
Tre Jones was mentioned to begin the season, but he is still available in two out of every three leagues. Perhaps it is because he missed the first part of this month, but he has played an average of 23.5 minutes since returning. He also has five or more assists in every game.
Jones has seven steals in four games, two double-digit point games, and only four turnovers. He has scored 24 or more fantasy points (Draftkings DFS scoring) in his last three games. Look for Jones and pick him up if he is available.
Dru Smith, Guard, Miami Heat: Rostered in 2% of Sleeper Leagues
For those in large fantasy basketball leagues, take a deep dive on Dru Smith. He is owned in just 2% of leagues, and he has played in every game this season. With Herro unable to play consistent minutes Smith has retained value.
For leagues that reward highly for steals Smith gets a boost. He has at least two in each of his last four games. He also has a combined 13 assists, 23 points, and 9 rebounds. Miami has five games over the next nine days. Pick him up if you are in need at the guard position.
