Pistons vs. Knicks Predictions For Tonight NBA Playoffs Game 5, 4/29

The Knicks may have escaped with the one-point win on Sunday, but it certainly didn’t come easy. In fact, nothing came easy in the Motor City, as they won Games 3 and 4 but a TOTAL of three points!

It was Sunday’s game that didn’t feel as though it wasn’t going to be a close call, as they dominated nearly the entire first half, even holding a 16-point lead during the second quarter. However, as NBA fans know all too well, it’s often a game of runs, so those pre-halftime leads don’t always mean much.

Regardless, getting the victory was absolutely crucial, as history tells us that teams that go up 3-1 win the series a whopping 95% of the time. The pressure will still be on back at MSG tonight, which is certainly a factor in locking in the best bet from our Pistons vs. Knicks predictions.

New York Knicks: Jalen Brunson’s Ailing Ankle

Before we get that far, other than such a crazy back-and-forth Game 4 overall, it was seeing Jalen Brunson go down again that most concerned many Knicks fans. Remember, he missed much of the tail end of the regular season with an ankle issue before returning for the final few games.

Despite not being able to put any weight on the ankle during the commercial break following the injury, after what must have been a legendary tape job, Jalen Brunson was able to return to the game. In fact, he scored eight points in the blink of an eye after returning to fuel the Knicks comeback after squandering away the lead.

Detroit Pistons: Cade Cunningham Joins Historic Company

Speaking of blowing their lead, that was in large part thanks to Detroit’s Cade Cunningham turning things around in the second half. He’s clearly a young star that is here to stay in the NBA, but it was a rough start to Game 4 - Cunningham scored just six points in the first half on Sunday.

Clearly, he didn’t let that get to him, as he came out of the halftime locker room hot. At one point in the third quarter, he was outscoring the entire Knicks team 12-11. After finishing with 25-10-10, he became just the third player in league history to record a double-double (triple double in this case) in each of his first four playoff games.

Pistons vs. Knicks Odds, Spreads, Total & Betting Lines

With the series heading back to New York, it’s no surprise to see them favored - here are the latest Pistons vs. Knicks odds at FanDuel Sportsbook:

Pistons vs. Knicks Best Bet: Dennis Schroder Over 10.5 Points (-105 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

A potential closeout game for game for Jalen Brunson and New York and the playoff lives on the line for Cade Cunningham and Detroit, locking in Pistons vs. Knicks picks for Game 5 is no easy task.

With a season-on-the-line game upcoming, surely we’re putting our faith in the aforementioned Cunningham, right? Not so fast. While he may very well get his once again, not only are we not targeting the superstar, but we’re not even targeting the starting lineup! That’s right - we’re rolling with a bench player.

Of course, Detroit’s Dennis Schroder is no ordinary bench player. He’s been arguably the most important player for the Pistons in this series alone, which was in their Game 2 victory - also at Madison Square Garden. Schroder posted 20 points in that game following a loss, so he’s in a similar spot tonight.

It was also no fluke; we saw Schroder record 18 points the following game, and even during the regular season, the sixth man averaged over 13 points per game. Furthermore, we may even see more minutes from him if Tobias Harris keeps his current pace of fouling.

Despite the refs letting seemingly everything go on Sunday, Harris still recorded his fifth foul with four minutes still remaining in the third quarter! Now in New York, if anything, he’ll be getting even more calls against him. Even if that’s not the case, Schroder has recorded 28 minutes per game in this series.

It may not be the flashiest pick, but the best bet from our Pistons vs. Knicks predictions is Dennis Schroder over 10.5 points (-105 at FanDuel Sportsbook).

Pistons vs. Knicks Injury Report & Starting Lineups

Following Game 4, the biggest Pistons vs. Knicks injury news is all about Jalen Brunson, as he won’t have that same adrenaline he had within the game on Sunday. However, with him able to return to Game 4 and an expectation that he’ll play tonight, perhaps just as notable is Detroit’s Isaiah Stewart missing yet another matchup.

With those notes in mind, here are the expected Pistons vs. Knicks lineups for tonight’s Game 5:
