NBA Best Bets Today, 12/20: Picks, Predictions & Player Props - Saturday
Just like The Boss, Bruce Springsteen, we are on fire! A perfect sweep took place yesterday, and that is five consecutive winning best bets. The crazy part is how easily the bets cleared their lines, some of them by double. Nikola Vucevic needed nine rebounds, he earned 15. Victor Wembanyama needed 19 points, he scored 26. Derrick White needed four threes, and he made nine!
We could have teased the lines way up, but only a fool would be upset with winning over three units in one day. The goal now becomes to keep the momentum rolling. There are ten games in the Association today, and three are nationally televised on NBA TV. The first best bet comes from the first nationally televised match up.
NBA Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 12/20
Houston Rockets vs Denver Nuggets: Saturday, 12/20
Game Time: 5:00 PM ET | TV: NBA TV | Location: Ball Arena | Odds: HOU -1.5 | O/U 235.5
Prediction: Nikola Jokic Over 11.5 Rebounds (+102 on FanDuel Sportsbook)
This will be the third game between the Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets this season. They played at Ball Arena on December 15th, and they play there again today. This time an afternoon game. Denver has won both of the game this season, but they have been back-and-forth grudge matches that go to the final buzzer.
This is a possible Western Conference Finals preview, and both teams really appreciate playing in this match. It is shown in their effort and it will be the best of ten games. With it being such a tight spread, the best bet is on Nikola Jokic to record over 11.5 rebounds. As mentioned both teams give a lot of effort in this match, and when Jokic gives his best effort there isn’t a player that can stop him.
Houston has height at every position, they have great rebounders, and allows the fewest rebounds to opposing teams. Opposing teams average just 37.7 rebounds per game. However Jokic earned 15 rebounds against them five days ago, and is averaging 12.3 rebounds per game. He has 12 or more rebounds in two of his last three games, and he appears to have recovered from a wrist injury that very few were even aware of.
Put a unit on the best player of this decade to earn at least his average against a good Houston team.
Indiana Pacers vs New Orleans Pelicans: Saturday, 12/20
Game Time: 7:00 PM ET | TV: Local | Location: Smoothie King Center | Odds: NO -1.5 | O/U 235.5
Prediction: Pelicans -2.5 (-103 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
The red-hot New Orleans Pelicans host the Indiana Pacers at the Smoothie King Center. This is a bottom of the dumpster sludge match between two teams headed straight for a lottery selection. Actually the Pelicans gave their 2026 first-round pick to Atlanta, but the point remains the same. However the Pelicans are hotter than a vinegar-based Louisiana hot sauce. Derik Queen looks the part, is proving he could be worth it, and will develop into a great all-around player.
They have won three consecutive games, have climbed to 6-22, and have a great opportunity to win again today. The Indiana Pacers have pulled a couple players out if they start scoring too much, and they have a clear agenda set for a high draft pick. Probably a center. The Pacers have one road victory this season, and although they are once again healthy, winning is not at a top priority.
Taking a negative spread on the worst team in the Association isn’t a daily betting occurrence. Nor is it advised. But teasing up their spread? Now we are getting bold, and opportunity favors those that are. It’s a simple one-point tease to remove the juice that has been tacked on. This line opened at -1.5 at -110 but has moved as high as -125 on some sportsbooks. Tease it up one point on DraftKings and enjoy near even odds. Put a unit on this best bet today.
NBA Prop Bet Today, 12/20
Derrick White Over 3.5 Threes (-114 on FanDuel Sportsbook)
Bob Marley and The Wailers have a song titled “Do It Twice” with the lyrics, ‘Baby you’re so nice, I want to do the same thing twice’. Fantasy Alarm NBA Best Bets has the sentiment, and is going back to the well with Derrick White over 3.5 threes made. He is amazing from behind the arc. White is just as good, if not better, than Stephen Curry at making threes.
As mentioned he made nine threes yesterday, and he attempted 14. He did play 36 minutes at TD Garden, then traveled to Toronto to play the Raptors. That is only a two-hour flight, but it could have some effect. He could attempt 11 threes as opposed to 14. In all seriousness second, third, fourth, and fifth place in the Eastern Conference are in the Atlantic Division.
Third-place Toronto has a 0.5 game advantage over fourth-place Boston, and that can flip if Boston wins. They play each other four times in a season, and a playoff seeding could come down to a head-to-head, or division record. Both teams will be giving maximum effort in a game that could have a direct impact at the end of the season. Look for White to keep delivering with threes. Put a unit on this best bet.
