The Houston Rockets came out and dominated the Atlanta Hawks. The opposite of what Fantasy Alarm NBA Best Bets predicted. It was a close first half with only 1 point difference, but Houston was able to pull away in the second half. They outscored Atlanta 61 to 44 in the third and fourth quarters, ending the Hawks' winning streak.

Michael Porter did exactly what we predicted him to do. We only wish we built a ladder on what was one of the easiest point propositions of the season. Porter Jr. cleared his 25.5 point line in the third quarter, and finished with 38 points… one less than his career high.

The Oklahoma City Thunder were outscored by the Minnesota Timberwolves 63 - 50 at halftime. The spread for half was in play, but the best bet was Minnesota +6.5. Fantasy Alarm mentioned that the moneyline was an option for those who live dangerously, and it too was successful. The spread was covered in the process, and after two days without Meatloaf… we were starving.

Yesterday proved once again that ‘Two out of three ain’t bad’. There are nine NBA games today, including several Eastern versus Western Conference battles. There are two nationally televised matches, and the first game on ESPN features the best bet of the night. It is an East versus East battle in the Sunshine State.

NBA Best Bets Today, 1/30: Picks, Predictions & Player Props Friday

Toronto Raptors vs Orlando Magic: Friday 1/30

Game Time: 7:30 PM ET | TV: ESPN | Location: Kia Center | Odds: ORL -1.5 | O/U 220.5

The Toronto Raptors and Orlando Magic are both rested after a day off. This is projected to be a close one at the Kia Center, with the home team (the Magic) favored by -1.5 points. The Raptors are currently fourth in the Eastern Conference, and only 1.0 game back from second place. The Magic are in eighth place, but only 1.5 games back from sixth place. There is plenty of motivation in the rankings alone.

Toronto averages 113.6 points per game, and Orlando averages 115.4 points per game. The Raptors have point totals of 122 and 145 in two of their last five games. The Magic have scored 133, 118, and 128 in their most recent wins. Paolo Banchero, Desmond Bane, Brandon Ingram, Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett, and Immanuel Quickly are all healthy. And they are all great scorers.

This match will be a high-scoring, back-and-forth battle. It seems too simple, and the line is slightly off. Take advantage of it. Trust the scoring for these teams to shine after a day’s rest. Put a unit on the best bet of over 220.5 points today.

Detroit Pistons vs Golden State Warriors: Friday 1/30

Game Time: 10:00 PM ET | TV: ESPN | Location: Chase Center | Odds: DET -1.5 | O/U 225.5

The first best bet was the over on a total. The second best bet is an over on a total too. The Golden State Warriors host the Detroit Pistons in the second nationally televised match on ESPN. The Pistons played last night against the Phoenix Suns and were blown out in a 114 - 96 loss.

The Golden State Warriors had a much-needed day off. They are still attempting to figure out their lineup and rotation without Jimmy Butler. Unfortunately for them, they are not a good defensive team. Their totals in their last six games (excluding the back-to-back games in Minneapolis) have been: 264, 238, 272, 247, 252, and 239. Defense has been thrown out the window as the Warriors look to outscore and outpace their opponents.

That is difficult to do with two 35+ year-olds leading your frontcourt. The Pistons have an excellent frontcourt and will look to bounce back after an embarrassing loss in Phoenix. They are first in the Eastern Conference, have won 7 of their last 10 games, and have a 15 - 7 record on the road. Great teams bounce back after a rough loss. Look for them to score many more points than they did against the Suns. Put a unit on the second best bet of today.

NBA Prop Bet Today, 1/30

Derrick White was an almost automatic bet to make over 3.5 threes earlier this season. But the rise of Payton Pritchard and Sam Hauser earning more minutes has caused White’s production to take a dip. He owns the Boston Celtics record for most threes made in a season, with 265 made in Boston’s record-breaking 2023-24 season.

However, things can change rapidly in the Association. What was yesterday’s star becomes today’s role-player. White is not a role player, but his role has changed. Although still playing 30+ minutes, his field goal attempts are down. As is his three-point percentage, which is currently at 32.2. It has been 38.1% or higher in the previous three seasons.

The Sacramento Kings are not a good team, and Boston has a -12.0 projected spread advantage. That could mean more three-point field goals for White, but could also mean he doesn’t touch the court in the fourth quarter. A scenario that is a real possibility. Although we have had three successful best bets on White’s over, the best bet today is on under 3.5 threes to be made. White has made fewer than 3.5 threes in eight consecutive matches, and he needed 17 attempts to go over 3.5 in the ninth game. Put a unit on this best bet today.
