What better way to start off the week than with some MLB DFS action? Tonight’s MLB DFS main slate gives us nine games to work with and it is important to stay on top of the latest MLB news, MLB lineups, and MLB weather. Of course, while we are concentrating on finishing in the green, the MLB trade deadline will hang over our heads until tomorrow afternoon. Let’s take a look at some MLB DFS value options to fit into your lineups tonight.

DFS Value Pitchers

Domingo Germán (NYY); DraftKings - $6,400; FanDuel - $6,500; Yahoo - $32

German looked a lot better in his last start than he did in his season debut, but the right-hander still has some room for improvement as well. While he only got through 4.2 innings against the Mets (82 pitches) German struck out seven batters so it was a solid outing from a DFS perspective. The right-hander allowed two runs on five hits and two walks, and while I do not expect him to dominate Seattle, it is a good matchup for German. He gets to face a beat-up Mariners team, Julio Rodríguez among others are banged up and sidelined, who are coming off a tough series in Houston and not exactly coming from a position of strength.

Michael Kopech (CWS); DraftKings - $7,000; FanDuel - $8,200; Yahoo - $40

Kopech did a great job of navigating Coors Field in his last start by getting 14 ground ball outs and picking up the victory in 5.1 scoreless innings of work. That was a pleasant development for Kopech and his 34.3% groundball rate as the right hander has benefited from keeping his fly balls in the park with a home run to fly ball rate of just 8.3%. From that perspective it is a good sign that Kopech is facing the Royals tonight as just two teams have less home runs than Kansas City this season. So far on the season, Kopech has a 3.16 ERA and 1.21 WHIP while striking out about eight batters per nine innings.

DFS Value Hitters

Jake McCarthy, OF (ARI); DraftKings - $2,700; FanDuel - $2,200; Yahoo - $14

Following the trade of David Peralta, McCarthy has found himself with an everyday role for Arizona and it is seemingly agreeing with the outfielder. In his last four games, McCarthy is six for 14 to bring his average up to .263 on the season. We are still dealing with a 28.1% strikeout rate, but McCarthy has been a solid source of runs with 24 in 128 plate appearances. Although we likely are not going to get much in the power department, consistent playing time should benefit McCarthy and he has the platoon advantage tonight against Cal Quantrill

Gavin Sheets, 1B/OF (CWS); DraftKings - $3,000; FanDuel - $2,200; Yahoo - $14

Let’s go chasing a home run tonight with Sheets as all eight of his long balls on the season have come against right-handed pitching. While a .236 batting average isn’t going to jump off the page at anyone, it is better than his .174 mark against southpaws with 20 of his 24 RBI also coming with the platoon advantage. While Brad Keller’s platoon splits are not as glaring, he is worse against left-handed batters and despite having a solid season, he is hittable. With a 17-degree launch angle, Sheets goes after the long ball and that is what we are after tonight.

Yuli Gurriel, 1B (HOU); DraftKings - $3,300; FanDuel - $2,400; Yahoo - $12

Rumors are swirling regarding Josh Bell heading to Houston, but for now, Gurriel continues to man first base. The Astros have moved him up in the order and it has seemingly worked out for the first baseman as of late with a mild five game hitting streak. Gurriel always has had strong plate skills, but this season that hasn’t necessarily been evident until recently with three multi-hit games. Houston is always going to be an offense to target, and Gurriel gives us cost effective exposure.

Gleyber Torres, 2B (NYY); DraftKings - $3,200; FanDuel - $4,800; Yahoo - $17

Facing Marco Gonzales is not going to generate much in the way of fear and Torres has nine home runs in 94 at bats against southpaws so far this year. While Gonzales may have a 3.66 ERA on the season, his FIP is 5.08 and he also allows 1.35 home runs per nine innings which makes this a favorable situation for Torres. It has been a strong season for Torres to this point with a .261 batting average, 16 home runs, 46 RBI, and 47 runs scored while posting career high statcast metrics in barrel rate (10%), launch angle (19.8 degrees) and hard hit rate (43.6%).
