Jose Altuve, Houston Astros – HIGHER than 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBI

Jose Altuve is on a major home run binge right now. The Houston Astros second baseman homered three times last night and went deep twice the day before. Quick math makes that five home runs over just the past two games. Altuve is also hitting .375 over the past seven games and .368 over the past 30 games. Let’s back him to keep it going tonight as he anchors the Astros offense in another pivotal matchup against the Texas Rangers. It’s Max Scherzer on the mound for Texas, which is obviously a tougher matchup. Still, Altuve has some key splits in his favor here. He oddly boasts better numbers on the road this season with a .365 BA and 1.123 OPS in away games compared to a .267 BA and .782 OPS at home. Altuve is also batting .330 with a .995 SLG vs right-handed pitching. Back to that road success, though. Altuve now has higher than 1.5 hits+runs+RBI in 15 of his last 16 road starts. The only thing going against him tonight is poor BvP numbers vs Scherzer. Over their careers, Altuve is hitting just .167 (4-for-24) off of Scherzer.

Jazz Chisholm Jr., Miami Marlins – HIGHER than 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBI

The Miami Marlins are right back in the thick of the NL Wild Card race with a current five-game winning streak. Getting another win tonight would be clutch, so let’s back a certain Miami hitter to anchor the offense. Jazz Chisholm Jr. has caught fire lately with a .355 BA over the past week with four multi-hit games in this span. Chisholm has a favorable matchup here against Los Angeles Dodgers starter Lance Lynn. The veteran righty was decent in his first few starts as a Dodger, but he’s come back down to Earth. Lynn has allowed 11 total runs and 17 hits over his past two starts combined, giving up five home runs as well. Meanwhile, Chisholm is a much better hitter against right-handed pitching this season. He’s batting .284 with a .521 SLG against righties compared to a .161 BA and .258 SLG vs lefties. That’s a stark difference. Plus, Chisholm has at least two hits+runs+RBI in five straight games and six of the last seven coming into tonight. Lynn, by the way, is allowing a .307 BA to lefty hitters this year.
