Now, let's dive into the top MLB player props on Underdog Fantasy for Saturday, May 27th.

Clayton Kershaw, Los Angeles Dodgers - UNDER 6 Strikeouts

I’d love for this to get moved to 6.5, as I like that more, but I can play it at six. Kershaw has a 5.12 ERA here in the month of May and has failed to get through five innings in three of four starts this month. Now, the strikeouts have been there for him, but favorable matchups have really helped him. In the month of May, he’s faced the Padres, Brewers, Twins, and Cardinals, who all rank 14th, 1st, 2nd, and 15th in strikeout rate against lefties respectively. Today’s opponent, the Rays, rank 23rd and they are not only one of the best offenses when hitting at home, but one of the best against left-handers in particular. The Rays have a .962 OPS and 168 wRC+ against left-handed pitching this season, and in the month of May, they have a 21.2 percent strikeout rate as a team, ranking 21st. Dating back to 2021, Kershaw has a 32.9 percent strikeout rate at home, whereas it’s just 24.9 percent on the road.

TJ Friedl, Cincinnati Reds - OVER 0.5 Singles

The wind is going to be blowing in at Wrigley, and while Friedl does have a .339 average on the road this season, his .375 SLG, and .036 ISO indicate that the pop just hasn’t been there away from Great American Ball Park. 17 of his 19 hits on the road this year have been singles, and I love that he’s facing a right-hander today, as he’s hit .324 against right-handed pitching this season. Chicago’s Jameson Taillon has served up a .358 average and .475 wOBA to left-handed hitters this season, and Friedl should get things started early at the top of the order. Additionally, over the last two weeks, the Cubs’ bullpen has the third-highest ERA (8.21) in baseball, so I expect multiple favorable spots for Friedl tonight. All we need is one single, which is something he has done in eight of his last ten road contests.

Edward Cabrera, Miami Marlins - UNDER 6.5 Strikeouts

Betting unders isn’t as fun as overs, but this line seems awfully high. Can Cabrera get to seven strikeouts, something he’s only done in three of ten starts this season? Can Cabrera get to seven strikeouts on the road, something he’s done in just one of six tries this season? The Angels do have the ninth-highest strikeout rate, but the team’s strikeout rate has been worse against lefties than righties during that span. His biggest outings for strikeouts this year have come against the Cubs and Giants, the latter of which have been incredibly generous to right-handed pitching in the strikeout department. This line just seems too high.
