After an excellent 3-1 day from Dan Servodidio yesterday, including nailing both of his featured Underdog picks of the day, we’ll look to keep the good times going with some Underdog Fantasy MLB picks for May 16. After looking at the MLB player props over on Underdog, I uncovered some of my favorite picks of the day. My best bets of the day, in terms of MLB player props over on Underdog, feature Juan Soto against the Kansas City Royals, and Randal Grichuk at Coors Field against prospect Brandon Williamson in his Major League debut for the Cincinnati Reds. Check out these free MLB player props and MLB daily picks on Underdog Fantasy for “Pick'Em” contests tonight. As always, we have plenty of tools for you to use, whether it be for your MLB bets or MLB DFS lineups, including our MLB weather report, our MLB lineups page, and our MLB daily projections. Without further ado, here are my favorite MLB picks of the day and top MLB player props over on Underdog Fantasy for May 16.

MLB Underdog Fantasy Top Picks May 16

Randal Grichuk, Colorado Rockies - OVER 1.5 Total Bases

This game is played in Coors, with an O/U of 12 (at time of writing), and Grichuk gets to face a left-hander. How can we not love this? In a dozen games this year, he has at least two total bases in eight of them, and when you look solely at the games he’s played in Coors, he’s done it in five of seven games. If you think his .370 average for the year looks good, wait until I tell you that he’s hitting .571 with a 1.286 SLG and 1.986 OPS against lefties this year. Wait until I tell you that he has a 1.161 OPS and .458 batting average at Coors Field this season. Wait until I tell you that Cincinnati’s Brandon Williamson has served up a .320 average and 2.66 HR/9 to right-handed hitters in the minors this season, and now gets to make his Major League debut at the game’s best offensive park.

Juan Soto, San Diego Padres - OVER 8.5 Fantasy Points

His willingness to take a walk always pushes me towards looking at Soto’s fantasy points when it comes to his player props. He is seeing the ball really well right now, as he’s slashing .417/.533/.875 over his last seven games. The star outfielder has a 1.034 OPS against right-handed pitching in 2023, and he gets to square off against Kansas City’s Brady Singer tonight. Singer is coming off one of his better starts of the season, but we can’t ignore the fact that he’s served up an 8.59 ERA on the road this season, not to mention a .408 wOBA and .583 SLG to left-handed hitters. Singer primarily uses his sinker and slider against lefties, with the occasional changeup, and when you look at Soto’s numbers this year against righties, he’s slugging .833 against sinkers, hitting sliders at a .333 clip, and has a .492 wOBA against changeups. His recent success versus Singer’s struggles should favor him in this matchup, and I love that walks are three points on Underdog, which is the same as a single. Singer has a 9.2 percent walk rate against left-handed hitters, and Soto has a 22.2 percent walk rate versus righties.
