Welcome to the MLB Best Bets and Betting Picks for Tuesday, May 16. Excited to be back slinging out some wagers for everyone especially given that we have a full 15 game slate to dig into! Started the betting season off on the right foot but was thwarted from the perfect night due to cold bats in Texas as the total went under last Tuesday night, but with the matchups on the board tonight I am ready to get back in the green!  It’s a strong 15-game slate for baseball betting and there are some best bets for today to keep in mind.

MLB Best Bets for May 16

Kansas City Royals at San Diego Padres

If you would have told me the San Diego Padres with their stacked lineup would still be under .500 at this point in the season I probably wouldn't have believed you but here we are are May 16th and they are 20-22. They have held serve at home going 11-11 but other than that things have been disappointing. This series against the Royals though is a perfect chance to right the ship and a matchup on the mound of Seth Lugo and Brady Singer looks prime to me. Singer has been awful for the Royals with a 2-4 record and an ERA of 7.71. He has also allowed 47 hits this season over 39.2 innings pitched. The Royals offense should be little help as well as they score just 4.02 runs per game, which is the 5th fewest in the MLB this season. Give me the Padres to win tonight on the run line of -1.5.

Pick: San Diego Padres Run Line -1.5 (+105 on BetMGM)

Cleveland Guardians at Chicago White Sox

Its a matchup in the AL Central tonight as the Guardians hit the road to take on the White Sox. Everyone around baseball knows the White Sox are in the dumps right now and I'm going to pile on tonight with a wager against them. The pitching matchup is great for Cleveland as Shane Bieber the ace of their staff gets the nod with his 3-1 record at ERA of 2.61. He will face off against Lance Lynn who is having one of his worst seasons with a record of 1-5 and massive ERA of 7.51. As bad as he has been though he has gone at least 5 innings in 7 of 8 starts so by those trends he will be out there against Bieber for my Guardians 1st 5 innings bet. I worry a bit about the lack of run support for Cleveland as the bats have been cold but I do have full faith in Bieber outclassing Lynn. With that I will take the Guardians Money Line through the opening 5 innings tonight.

Pick: Cleveland Guardians 1st 5 Innings Money Line (-135 on DraftKings)

Philadelphia Phillies at San Francisco Giants

At this point in the season there is plenty of sample size to look at betting trends and tonight's matchup between the Phillies and Giants has a glaring one. The Phillies have gone under the total in 56.4% of games this season, the 4th highest rate and the Giants have gone under in 51.3% of games the 13th highest rate. These trends are further backed by the lack off offense from each teams this season as the Giants are scoring 4.37 runs per game and the Phillies are scoring 4.29 runs per game. Both of those marks are in the bottom half of the league at this time. The pitching matchup is also favorable for the under tonight as Zach Wheeler with his 3.8 ERA meets Alex Cobb with his 1.70 ERA. Cobb on top of that has not allowed an earned run in the month of May yet over 2 starts and over 100 total pitches in each outing. Overall he has allowed over 2 earned runs in just 1 of 8 starts this season. Banking on these numbers continuing tonight so give me the under in this matchup.

Pick: Phillies and Giants Under 7.5 Runs (-110 on DraftKings)
