MLB Underdog Fantasy Top Picks July 14

Luis Arraez, Miami Marlins – OVER 1.5 Total Bases

While this year’s MLB All-Star Game was mostly dominated by pitching, one guy didn’t get the memo. Luis Arraez, who’s still chasing a .400 batting average this season, promptly went 2-for-2 with an RBI on just two total pitches in the Midsummer Classic. Arraez is simply a hit machine. Let’s bank on the hit parade continuing tonight in this first game back after the break. The Miami Marlins infielder is currently hitting .383 on the year, his lowest BA in a month, and he should be feeling refreshed at the plate to inch back closer to .400. Arraez will face Baltimore Orioles right-hander Dean Kremer, who has a 4.78 ERA and 1.37 WHIP this season. He’s allowing a .307 BA to left-handed hitters this season. Meanwhile, Arraez is hitting .385 vs righties. It’s a good spot for him to start the second half strong. 

Julio Urias, Los Angeles Dodgers – OVER 5.0 Hits Allowed

It’s been a very up-and-down season for Julio Urias and tonight could be a spot where he runs into trouble again. The Los Angeles Dodgers starter has had some major issues on the road this year with an 8.44 ERA and 1.84 WHIP across six road outings. That’s night and day compared to his 2.15 ERA and 0.72 WHIP at home in 2023. Even a stint on the IL didn’t help Urias much as he coughed up five runs on six hits to the lowly Kansas City Royals offense on the road in his first start back. The left-hander has allowed at least six hits in five straight road starts with 5+ runs allowed in four of those. Tonight, he faces a New York Mets lineup that woke up right before the All-Star break and won’t make life easy on Urias. In the past two weeks of games, the Mets are a top 10 offense in terms of wOBA (.338), wRC+ (117), and ISO (.202).
