We attacked this matchup yesterday with the fantasy points for Dylan Cease and unfortunately, the Rockies were able to have one of their better offensive outputs of the season. That said, Cease still managed a high number of strikeouts, and the Rockies still own the league's second-highest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching at 26.9%. 

King has a 25% strikeout rate on the season and is coming off an 11-strikeout game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. If you are worried about the box scores, don’t be. Yes, King has only finished higher than seven strikeouts this season in two of his starts, but he’s had a run of opponents that rank towards the middle-to-bottom half of the league in strikeout rate and has had high strikeout per inning games where he just wasn’t able to stay in long enough.

I’m expecting a strong start here where he gets the innings and therefore gets the strikeouts needed.

 

 

 

Garrett Crochet, Chicago White Sox

I think we may have gotten through the rough patch there with Crochet who has now tossed back-to-back strong outings, and today, draws a Nationals lineup that has really struggled against left-handed pitching this season, ranking 26th in wOBA, 21st in ISO and 25th in batting average. 

We need six full innings from Crochet today for him to finish higher than his 17.5 outs projection which is something he has done in each of his last two outings. Another reason to be encouraged when it comes to Crochet in this matchup is that his underlying stats suggest he is pitching way better than his results as his 4.63 ERA is matched by a 2.15 xERA, 2.55 xFIP and 3.33 FIP. 

As his on-field production begins to normalize with his actual pitching ability, we may see him go on a long run of strong starts.
