Paul Goldschmidt OVER 1.5 total bases
“Paul Goldschmidt is facing a left-handed pitcher” are some of my favorite words to hear in all of baseball. On the year, Goldy is hitting .451 with a .572 wOBA, .392 OPS, and a 1.384 OPS against left-handers. This is nothing new, however, as Goldschmidt has a 1.036 OPS, .278 ISO, and .431 wOBA against LHP for his career.
He matches up with Braxton Garrett who looked pretty good in his last start, but that wasn’t against an offense as potent as St. Louis’ is. Right-handed hitters have a .333 AVG, .500 SLG%, .393 wOBA, and a 35.7% hard-hit rate against Garrett on the year. This is a very tough spot for Garrett and with the way Goldschmidt is swinging the bat right now, it’s going to be a rough outing for him.
Ke'Bryan Hayes OVER 1.5 total bases
Although Ke’Bryan Hayes has not been great lately, he’s hit left-handed pitching well since beginning of the year. In fact, he’s hit lefties since coming into the league back in 2020. He has slashed .319/.369/.483 with a .367 wOBA and 133 wRC+ against southpaws and now gets an extremely juicy match-up against Patrick Corbin.
On the year, Corbin has a 6.60 ERA and is 3-10 in the win/loss column. He has allowed two home runs in each of the last three starts and has been a crowd favorite to target against. On the year, right-handed hitters are batting .306 with an .870 OPS and .373 wOBA against Corbin this year.
