I hope everyone is feeling well-rested following the MLB All-Star break! Additionally, I hope everyone is ready for some player props over at Underdog Fantasy. There aren’t many games today, so the amount of MLB player props I really like are a bit lower than normal. Fortunately, we got two good ones to triple our money. Pablo López has a great matchup at home against a Texas squad that struggles with right-handed pitching, and while Detroit’s free agent splash signing of Javier Báez has been largely underwhelming, Baez has been excellent against southpaws. These two represent my favorite MLB player props for July 21 over at Underdog Fantasy.

 

 

 

 


OVER 5.5 Strikeouts

The strikeouts haven’t been there for Pablo López of late, as he hasn’t surpassed this mark in any of his past four starts, but this is one of his better matchups of late for strikeouts, and he’s in his home park, where he’s been excellent this year (2.35 home ERA). The Texas Rangers have the eighth-highest strikeout rate in baseball against right-handed pitching in 2022, and in the month of July, they have the sixth-highest strikeout rate overall. You don’t want to start lefties against Texas, as they have a 120 wRC+ and .335 wOBA as a team versus southpaws, but against righties, it’s a different story, as their 90 wRC+ and .293 wOBA are both mediocre at best. Lopez has at least six strikeouts in five of eight home starts this year, and he should eclipse this 5.5 line this afternoon.


 

 


OVER 1.5 Total Bases

Zach Logue is getting the start for the first of two games against Detroit, and in Oakland this year, he’s allowed a 5.54 ERA and .302 batting average against. Righties are hitting .272 with a 2.35 HR/9 against him, and Javier Báez has been at his best against southpaws this season. Not only does he have a .773 OPS on the road this year, compared to a .452 mark at home, but he’s hitting .338 with a .934 OPS against lefties. It hasn’t been a great year for Baez, but he’s been excellent against southpaws, and we can take that to the bank.
