We almost had a 3-for-3 day yesterday with our MLB Underdog picks, as Ryan Mountcastle fell one total base short of giving us a perfect day. As we turn the calendar to Monday, it’s time to analyze the board of MLB player props and sift through the data to find those winning MLB picks! My MLB best bets of the day on Underdog Fantasy feature Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Ranger Suarez in a tough matchup against the Washington Nationals, and Miami Marlins slugger Jorge Soler facing a southpaw at Great American Ball Park. For what it’s worth, Soler is my home run call of the day, too. Don't forget to check out the latest MLB weather report, as there is a lot of weather on the radar tonight, and the confirmed MLB lineups when placing those MLB betting picks, and our MLB daily projections and MLB Batter vs Pitcher page will help uncover the best matchups for MLB player props and your MLB DFS lineups. Let's dive into the top MLB player picks on Underdog Fantasy for Monday, August 7th.

UPDATE: The Phillies game was postponed, and an additional player prop was added featuring Dane Dunning.

MLB Underdog Fantasy Top Picks August 7

Ranger Suarez, Philadelphia Phillies – LOWER than 27.5 Fantasy Points

To Suarez’s credit, he has been working deeper into games of late, but the combination of weather, matchup, and Suarez’s splits, may not be working in his favor. There’s some weather in the Philadelphia area this evening, and whether it ends up being a delay or a late start, it could affect Suarez’s routine. Additionally, winds are blowing out, which could be dangerous for Suarez against a Washington team that has been excellent of late against lefties. In terms of the matchup, Washington is slashing .293/.362/.496 over the last 30 days against southpaws, not to mention posting top-six marks across Major League Baseball in the aforementioned span in OPS, ISO, wOBA, and wRC+. Washington will also run out a right-handed heavy lineup, which attacks the worst side of Suarez’s splits (.295/.361/.443 vs RHH in 2023). Suarez has a 5.70 ERA at Citizens Bank Park this season, and last year, his 4.27 ERA at home was worse than his 3.20 ERA mark on the road. I could see Washington giving Suarez a tough time this evening, en route to Suarez posting fewer than 27.5 fantasy points.

Update: The WSH/PHI game was postponed. If you’re looking for a replacement pick, go with Dane Dunning to log MORE than 30.5 Fantasy Points.

Jorge Soler, Miami Marlins – HIGHER than 1.5 Total Bases

While Soler may only be hitting .250 over his last nine games, he’s hit safely in eight of them and has posted a .444 SLG and 112 wRC+ during that span. Tonight, he heads to Great American Ball Park, where the wind is likely blowing out, and Cincinnati is sending Brandon Williamson to the mound. The southpaw has allowed a 1.86 HR/9 at home, a 1.99 HR/9 to right-handed hitters, and a .507 SLG to righties. Soler has a .512 SLG on the road this year, but the bigger fact here is that Williamson is a lefty, and Soler has a .306 average, .729 SLG, and .424 ISO against left-handed pitchers this year. As mentioned in the intro, he’s my home run call of the night, and the winds that are likely to be blowing out certainly don’t hurt his chances here.
