Marcus Semien, Texas Rangers – OVER 0.5 Runs

Marcus Semien is rolling at the plate right now. The Rangers' second baseman is on a six-game hitting streak, batting .478 (11-for-23) in this span with four multi-hit games. He’s also scored 15 runs in the past 11 games with a run scored in nine of those contests. Semien started the season a bit slow, but he’s now up to a .293 batting average and a .341 on-base percentage. Tonight, Semien faces Oakland Athletics starter JP Sears, who has a 4.60 ERA through three starts this season. The left-hander could run into trouble against a hot Rangers offense, and Oakland’s MLB-worst bullpen behind him benefits the Texas hitters as well. You could go with other player props for Semien tonight, but the runs scored look like the safest bet.

George Kirby, Seattle Mariners – UNDER 5.0 Strikeouts

No one likes rooting for unders, but sometimes it’s just the smart play. George Kirby has K totals of five, four, and three in his three starts so far this season and now has to face a tough St. Louis Cardinals offense. The Cards have just a 20.6% strikeout rate this season, the 6th-best in the MLB. Over the past week, St. Louis is also in the top half of the league in walk rate, wOBA, wRC+, and K rate vs. right-handed pitching. Even at home for Kirby, the Seattle Mariners’ righty should have his strikeouts limited in this matchup. When he previously faced a team with similar numbers against right-handers, Kirby struck out just four over six innings vs the Cleveland Guardians a couple of weeks ago. He has only 12 Ks across 16.2 innings pitching thus far with a low whiff rate.
