Shohei’s Ohtani’s total bases and Jung Hoo Lee’s hits + runs + RBI props both come with clear situational edges backed by current form, matchup data, and recent trends. If you are building your Underdog Pick'em entry for today’s MLB slate, here is the full case for where we land on both and why the MLB DFS projections set up the way they do.
What are the Best Underdog MLB Pick'em Picks Today?
Today’s two best Underdog Fantasy MLB Pick'em plays are Shohei Ohtani over 1.5 total bases and Jung Hoo Lee over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI. Both props are supported by matchup data, current streaks, and favorable line construction heading into an action-packed day of baseball. Read below for the complete analysis on each.
Shohei Ohtani HIGHER than 1.5 Total Bases
Ohtani has recorded multiple hits in six of his last eight games, posting a .471/.526/.765 slash line during that stretch. He’s seeing a beach ball at the plate right now, and he has a quality .906 OPS and .231 ISO at home this year. We love Ohtani facing a righty, and that’s what he’ll get today, and even though he’ll be facing a strong groundball pitcher in Jose Soriano, winds are blowing out today, so if Ohtani can loft one, it should only take one swing to clear this line.
Jose Soriano has a sub-2.00 ERA on the road this year, and his numbers against lefties, aside the 14.2% walk rate, are pretty good, all things considered. However, since the calendar flipped to May, Soriano has a 5.13 ERA, 4.75 FIP, and 5.94 BB/9.
He’s struggling a bit of late, and Ohtani certainly is not, so let’s ride the hot bat this afternoon.
Jung Hoo Lee HIGHER than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI
Even with some wind blowing in at Wrigley tonight, I still love this line for Lee. He’s hit safely in 14 straight games, recording a .500 average and .519 wOBA during that span! He doesn’t win with loud contact, but more so making a ton of contact, and he lines up well against Chicago’s Jameson Taillon.
Taillon has allowed a .581 SLG and .393 wOBA to left-handed hitters on the season, and over his last four starts, the Chicago right-hander has a 7.71 ERA, 7.77 FIP, and 3.86 HR/9. Winds blowing in should help Taillon a bit in the home run department, but Lee’s elite ability to make contact and his .500+ BABIP over the last two weeks should push him past this line.
