MLB PrizePicks Cheat Sheet - Best Player Prop Plays for July 4: Kyle Wright Racks Up Ks & Hunter Greene Gets Rocked
On Monday, July 4th, we celebrate baseball all day long, as the first game of the day began at 11:00 am EST, so before most of the west coast even had their first sip of coffee! We have a very enticing night slate with a lot of enticing plays to choose from on PrizePicks. Filling in for Jon Impemba is a tall task, but with him taking the MLB DFS Playbook for today, I’ll do my best to bring the heat. Check back with our MLB Weather Center for more details surrounding the latest MLB weather report as MLB daily fantasy lineup lock approaches. It looks as if we SHOULD be all clear in that regard. To get all the confirmed lineups across baseball, check out the MLB Lineups page as well. To get projections and generate one or multiple daily fantasy baseball lineups, take a look at our MLB daily projections and MLB DFS Lineup Generator. Now let’s dive into the top MLB daily picks and MLB player props for PrizePicks!
PrizePicks Top Plays
Kyle Wright OVER 5.0 strikeouts
We’ve loved Kyle Wright from the first pitch he threw this season and today is no different. Although it’s a tough spot going up against the Cardinals, there is a LOT of upside for Wright in this spot. The primary reason behind that is they’ve struggled mightily of late in the strikeout department. Over the last two weeks, the Cardinals have a 25.7% K-rate, which is the fourth-highest mark in the league.
Although the strikeouts have been down for Wright, his body of work suggests positive regression is on the way. He’s punched out 25.7% of the batters he’s faced this season and the Cardinals have definitely had more success against left-handed pitchers compared to righties as they rank 15th in the league in OPS. Wright’s elevated his game in Atlanta this year, notching a 27.4% K-rate, compared to 23.3% on the road.
Hunter Greene OVER 2.5 earned runs allowed
As much as we like Hunter Greene as a prospect, it’s really hard to get excited about what he’s doing on the mound right now. He’s allowed 3 ER or more in three consecutive outings and has allowed five home runs over that span. Let’s also factor in the fact he’s facing off against the Mets IN Great American Ballpark. Only Coors Field averages more runs per game this season than Great American SMALLpark.
On the Mets side of things, they rank eighth in baseball in OPS and seventh in wOBA against right-handed pitchers. Each of the Mets' first five hitters in their confirmed lineup tonight have a wOBA of .323 or better and six of the first seven batters overall.
It’s going to be 90 degrees in a ballpark that does NOT need any help for offenses. Hunter Greene has a 5.87 ERA at home while allowing a .362 wOBA and 2.64 HR/9. This is a recipe for disaster for Greene tonight.
Other play(s) I like:
- Carlos Rodón o40.5 fantasy points
- Vladimir Guerrero Jr. o1.5 total bases
