Kyle Bradish hasn’t looked entirely sharp to begin the season. The Baltimore Orioles’ right-hander owns a 5.49 ERA and 1.63 WHIP through his first 4 starts. Still, he’s in a strong position to generate strikeouts in tonight’s matchup against the Kansas City Royals. 

Under the surface, Bradish’s numbers point to improvement. He carries a 3.08 xERA and 3.18 FIP, suggesting better results should be on the way. This is also a guy who posted a sub-3.00 ERA in each of the past three seasons, despite battling injuries. He now faces a Royals lineup that has struggled against right-handed pitching, with a .298 wOBA (25th in MLB) and .222 batting average (26th) in the split this year. 

Kansas City’s recent form makes the matchup even more appealing. Over the past week against righties, the Royals have struck out at a 26.2% rate (3rd-highest in the majors) while producing just a .259 wOBA (dead last in MLB). It sets up as a favorable spot for Bradish, even on the road.

While his strikeout rate sits at 23.9% this year, Bradish has shown a much higher ceiling in the past. He posted K rates of 37.3% and 32.5% in 2025 and 2024, respectively. The righty recorded just 4 strikeouts in his last start, but he had 6 and 7 K’s in the two outings before. It’s also worth noting that he’s been more effective on the road, with a 28.4% career strikeout rate in away starts compared to 22.9% at home. 

 

 

 

Jake Irvin PrizePicks MLB Pick: More Than 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed

Jake Irvin continues to be one of the more fadeable pitchers in the league. The Washington Nationals’ starter posted a 5.70 ERA and 1.43 WHIP last season. Through 4 starts this year, he has a 6.16 ERA and 1.47 WHIP. In his toughest matchups thus far, Irvin allowed 6 runs to the Dodgers and 3 to the Brewers. 

Another shaky outing is likely coming today with the Atlanta Braves in town. This offense is rolling right now, averaging 6.5 runs per game over the past 11 contests. The Braves are also crushing right-handed pitching over the past two weeks, with a .368 wOBA (2nd in MLB), 132 wRC+ (2nd), and .290 batting average (1st) in this stretch. 

It’s hard to imagine Irvin getting through this start without allowing a few runs. The righty allowed 3+ earned runs in 22 of 33 starts last season (67%), including 11 of 15 at home. He also had a 5.38 ERA at home last year. Irvin has already given up 3+ earned runs in half of his starts this year, and he’s trending towards doing it again today.
