MLB DFS Lineup Picks: Starting Pitchers
MLB DFS Top Pitchers
Jesus Luzardo (PHI)
Analysis: Luzardo's the best pitcher on the slate by a long mile. He's the guy with the best strikeout odds, highest strikeout rate, best win odds, and is simply the best pitcher on the board. It's hard to go into the rest of the pitching slate and not want Luzardo in your lineup.
Trevor Rogers (BAL)
Analysis: Since June 1st, Rogers has pitched to a 3.01 ERA while holding opponents to a .232 AVG and a .276 wOBA. His strikeouts have been way up too pitching to an 8.8 K/9 and 24.5% K-rate. Against lefties this year, the Guardians are 25th in wRC+ and 27th in OPS.
Joey Cantillo (CLE)
Analysis: Super high ceiling and super low floor. That's the Orioles offense and Joey Cantillo in a nutshell. The Orioles have the second-highest K-rate in baseball vs. LHP but they're top-10 in ISO and have a 102 wRC+ this season overall. That's actually gotten better as the season has gone on too.
MLB DFS Value Pitchers
Brayan Bello (BOS)
Analysis: The key here is that Brayan Bello is starting. We know by now how bad he's been as a starter vs. being a long reliever. Since the break, the Angels are 30th in wRC+ (76), 30th in OPS (.616), and have the second-highest K-rate (26.6%) against right-handed pitching. I think Bello can beat the non-starter allegations today.
Jonah Tong (NYM)
Analysis: Tong's getting a chance at the major league level and it's an audition for the 2027 rotation. He's pitched well at the minor league level leading up to this start and it's a pretty good spot as the Marlins have struck out 23% of the time against righties.
Top Options For Strikeouts
K-prop lines and value ratings are incorporated below for DFS and prop context. These are the arms building the highest strikeout ceilings on the 9-game slate.
Our model identifies these arms as the highest-ceiling plays for Alt-K lines today:
Jesus Luzardo: 30% K% (11.1 K/9)
Eury Perez: 26.1% K% (9.6 K/9)
Joey Cantillo: 24.5% K% (9.6 K/9)
Robert Gasser: 21.8% K% (8.5 K/9)
Best Odds For A Win
The following MLB DFS picks offer a combination of favorable win odds, sustainable ERA and xFIP metrics, and soft opponent matchups. Each carries K-prop lines worth noting alongside their DFS value at reduced ownership relative to the top tier.
- Jesus Luzardo -102
- Troy Melton +146
- Trevor Rogers +160
- Matthew Boyd +169
- Brayan Bello +172
MLB DFS Lineup Picks: Stacks & Hitters
MLB DFS Top Hitters
Bobby Witt (OF, KC), Carter Jensen (C, KC) & Vinnie Pasquantino (1B, KC)
Analysis: The Royals look fantastic today as they're running these three bats atop their lineup with Jac Cags still out. Derek Law, who's spent all season in the minors, and Jose Cabrera are expected to be their two primary pitchers and that's awesome for these three. Each of them have xISOs of at least .184 vs. RHP and all three are rollin' right now.
Jackson Chourio (OF, MIL)
Analysis: Righties have done all the damage against Matthew Boyd this season as he's allowed a .190 ISO, .201 xISO, .334 wOBA and .340 xwOBA. Chourio himself has done plenty of damage against southpaws posting a .215 ISO and .377 wOBA.
Ketel Marte (2B, ARI) & Gabriel Moreno (C, ARI)
Analysis: Ketel Marte destroys left-handed pitching and Gabe Moreno destroys all handednesses. Marte's ISO is nearly .300 and is wOBA is nearly .400 while Moreno has a .198 xISO and .390 xwOBA.
Christian Encarnacion-Strand (3B, BAL) & Coby Mayo (1B, BAL)
Analysis: We're just looking at ceilings here and these two have as high a ceiling as their is. Mayo has a .412 ISO, .467 wOBA, and 15 HR in 144 PA and CES isn't far behind with a .375 ISO, .416 xISO, .452 wOBA, and 6 HR in 63 PAs. We're chasing the ceiling.
MLB DFS Value Hitters
Nolan Arenado (3B, ARI) & Jordan Lawlar (OF, ARI)
Analysis: Arenado keeps homering and is now up to a .203 ISO vs. RHP on the year. Lawlar has had a TON of success against lefties this year posting a .270 ISO and .423 wOBA. Small sample for Lawlar, but dominant numbers.
Tyrone Taylor (OF, CHC) & Matt Shaw (2B/OF, CHC)
Analysis: The Cubs have cheaper players that do specific things well like crush left-handed pitching. That's what we have today with Taylor and Shaw and we've seen the Cubs deploy Taylor in the four-hole vs. LHP lately. That's because he has a .274 ISO and .407 wOBA against them.
Michael Massey (2B, KC)
Analysis: Over the last 10 games, Massey's hitting .333 and is hitting fifth in a premium spot today. Massey looks great in warm weather and the ball could be flying out of the yard.
Andrew Vaughn (1B, MIL)
Analysis: This guy just hits lefties. .192 ISO and .421 wOBA. He doesn't strikeout or miss pitches when he swings against them (5% SwStr). He's a really nice value despite losing his 3B elg on DK.
